Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Lads we are putting way too much weight on this u20 All Ireland win. Its a one off group that was the best that year in a 2-3 year cohort. Lots of counties have won u20 and minor since and their supporters don't be throwing huge expectation or adulation on players and management. Yes it was great ac...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
What in the name of god is Jack O’Brien doing at these meetings? Maybe someone more experienced like Peter Cunningham would be better ? Bit unfair to comment on who attended in this manner. Perhaps these were the players put forward by the group to represent the group. Seems to me there was represe...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
DK won an all ireland championship in 2021, DK is an offaly man Dk has only done 9 months Dk will 1 million percent be offaly manager in 2025. I'm nor saying I agree or disagree. Nigel Dunne is 35 or 36 and told management at the start of this year that 2024 was always going to be his last is what ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Dunne to be fair is probably 34 this year and has served his time if he wants to retire. I'd still say he was one of our better forwards this year and probably got more scores for his game time than most so would be worth keeping. Hope not true re Hogan and Cunningham as still have lot to offer and ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
We also got hockeyed by Kildare and Dublin and any amount of other teams in league and championship. Just because we lost in second tier competitions doesnt mean players didnt care or were not trying. We won the games we deserved to win and lost games we deserved to lose. Of course it is debatable. ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Why would you say the players think they are too good for Tailteann Cup?
I certainly wouldnt have picked that up from any player I ever spoke to in recent years.... I'd even say the opposite and one player even told me this year that the TC was a priority for them....

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Agree fully. Co board need to get business done straight away re consultation with stakeholders involved currently and give clarity to situation. Too much negative rumbling doing rounds that is undermining to status quo and current management. If co board are sticking with status quo, they need to g...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Here is another stat - a relevant one. We played 7 league games in Div 3 and won 2. We played 5 championship games - 4 of them winnable and won 1. That leaves us with 3 wins from 12 in games where the only game that could not be perceived as very winnable was Dublin in Leinster, where we got trounce...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
The last thread on this got very toxic and was rightly taken down. I hope this thread steers clear of such toxicity and remains fair and balanced. There is no doubt there were issues between players and management. The question is if the player management relatioship is too far gone. Only those invo...

Re: Club Football
Big nos in Edenderry but as you say, hard to get connection sometimes with some families. But that is often easier challenge than dealing with low or no numbers. Tullamore have got their stuff together at underage and results are there to see. If Edenderry were to really go after underage dev (and n...

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024
To be fair, they were complementing us. They were also referring to what an Offaly friend said about Offaly with respect to economic. It is no secret to say that Cork is a wealthier county than Offaly on average. It is also true that their lads have access to CIT (or whatever its called now) and UCC...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
We won u20 All Ireland 3 years ago. Our minors and u20s would be very competitive if the best players were available or included. Its not all bad and certainly not unfixable. There is definitely a management issue currently. Way too many fall outs with players for whatever reasons but a new manageme...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Yea, could interpret that in diff ways. Possibly a lot of work too in getting homecoming run off successfully. I'm sure there was lot of work involved in that. The footballers have their team secretary and volume of work needed there would be less than in Tullamore today. That said, point taken and ...

Offaly football is at low ebb there's no doubt. Rhode beating Shamrocks tonight at HT in league game by 1-10 to 0-00 says so much about football in the county. Reports say Rhode are in decline and then this? Could not believe my eyes. That is embarrassing for Shamrocks. Shamrocks would be seen gener...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
I wouldnt be getting too carried away with the league scorers. Attendance at the latter stages of the championship will tell a lot. Time for cheap shots at management to stop here lads. Get into a meeting room with your club executive and seek clarity on the points you are raising. Keyboard shite a...
