Re: Club Managements

Think you are totally missing the point in fairness. Never was it suggested in any way. Obviously most are native Ballinamere people and are playing huge roles within the club but you can't ignore the fact they have hooked in people living in the area in a way that lots of clubs do not. Another not ...

Re: Club Managements

I think the joining together at underage was a game changer for Bal Durrow. From previously having small numbers in both clubs, lots of houses got built and good numbers of children were there on the back of the noughties boom. This, allied with the fact that they really got their underage in order ...

Re: Club Managements

Well they got a full back page spread about their "arrival" from Kevin Corrigan this year. Did they beat Kilcormac / Killoughey or St Rynagh's to merit this? Or even Birr or Coolderry? No, they drew with Shinrone. And went on to finish bottom of their group and probably would have got relegated if ...

Re: Club Managements

Kiladangan is geographical big, population small. Two primary schools with one with children coming from nenagh to attend. Tiny village who put the work in with the help of brilliant chairmen. Were never a force in tipp until recently. amalgamated with other clubs for a couple of years also. For wh...

Re: Club Managements

I think in any county its very hard for every club to keep up that level of hunger and work on a consistent basis. You will see a couple or clubs dominate for 10 or so years then another club takes over for them. Its always just one or two guys the main reason who are pushing it on I agree, and thi...

Re: Club Managements

Jimbob hold on here for a second. Its very hard to wipe the floor as you say in any county Birr might of done it for years due to the fact of the presentation brothers were feeding Birr with numbers every year with a huge amount of talent amongst them players. That is not the case anymore due to th...

Re: Club Managements

Isn't Ballinamere in Tullamore Parish aswell which is why alot of kids from Tullamore are able to play out there which I agree is no excuse. Massive under achievers when you put them up against Mullingar and Athlone there could easily be another club in the town I wouldn't say a lot from Tullamore ...

Re: Club Managements

I can't understand why there aren't 2 clubs in Tullamore, there are 2 senior clubs in Athlone and 3 in Mullingar, Tullamore a similar sized town. With the population in Tullamore, they should have 3 minor teams, surely they are losing players .... Fully agree. Offaly GAA would be stronger if there ...

Re: Maughan & O' Malley / Dunne & Maher

Tierney and Dempsey were minors in 2015 so they would be 24 this year. Dunican , Hayes , mcnamee all 25 this year, I’m nearly sure none are 23 Hayes when I think about it could be 24 This is not important in the overall scheme of things. It’s just great that we are starting to get our best players ...

Re: Maughan & O' Malley / Dunne & Maher

I agree with protecting a star minor maybe 17 or 18 for a year or two, but after that they are young men, Kerry are not "cladding" Clifford until 23/4/5..if he hadnt made it by that age in Kerry he would be history and we would all wonder what became of him...I know its a balancing act, but lordy m...

Re: Maughan & O' Malley / Dunne & Maher

Fair play, too many points to mention in the last post....but at least you had the good sense to admit that you went off topic. Is there a list of the football panel? Personally glad to see Joe commit if John Maughan wants him, then that's all that matters really. I would be more concerned about th...

Johnny Pilkington

Johnny Pilkington Laochra Gael was a fab show. To see how we competed so regularly at top tier back then is fantastic. Lets hope we see a day like that again. Just one day would do! As for Johnny, he played himself off as a bit of a rogue back then, but he was a phenomenal hurler. A real greyhound i...

Re: The offaly way.

Important that this appointment is done well. Dave Hare was very important in the development system and best of luck to him in his new role. This role is hugely important if we are to progress as a county. Whoever it is needs to get or show clubs how use best practice in terms of doing this right a...
