Re: The offaly way.

Important that this appointment is done well. Dave Hare was very important in the development system and best of luck to him in his new role. This role is hugely important if we are to progress as a county. Whoever it is needs to get or show clubs how use best practice in terms of doing this right a...

Re: Club Managements

He obviously really got a taste for volunteerism while making the journey from Clare to Wexford for training. I wouldn’t agree with the previous poster’s assessment of his hurling ability but that’s neither here nor there. On the coaching front, he was a staunchly loyal lieutenant of Davy Fitzgeral...

Re: Club Managements

Is that Brendan Bugler, former Clare hurler? Yeah thats him..from Scariff....a good hurler he was too... He certainly isn’t from Scariff. He’s from Whitegate. Correct, Bugler is from Whitegate and was one of the main players with Clare for 10 years or so until he retired. A steely centre or wing ba...

Re: Club Managements

From football perspective, I believe Shane Curran has left Durrow and gone to Caulry in Westmeath. It is a little bit of a bazaar one given Durrow walked the senior B this year and are more than capable of having a good run in Senior A next year. The contrast is that Caulry are a team just hanging o...

Re: The offaly way.

Was there not a huge level of work done on this a number of years ago in both hurling and football. I remember a large group involved in hurling from which that famous document was sat on shelf for over a year. From football context, Paul O'Kelly was involved at a point with a group that gathered a ...

Re: Longest serving players in Offaly club championship

Not too sure but did Damian "Gift" Fox play junior hurling with Tullamore again this year? He definitely played last year. He is probably hurling senior since 1980ish and possibly even the late 70's as a teenager......

Would be hard to to top that

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

This has come up before lads. KK is a huge area! If not split they should have 2 teams in underage at most levels - A&B. They must have 6 feeder primary schools? They compete against some clubs who might have 1 or 2 feeder primarys. Special note re Ballinamere's emergence at A underage level in last...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

With the Covid-19, there will be guys around playing club hurling that would outwise have gone traveling. Look at the impact d horan made for St Rynagh last year. I hear both Dan currams and James Gorman are back home for kk. Not sure whether that true but kk will have Tom Spain who transferred thi...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

Two even enough groups in the senior hurling this year. Hard to see much between Birr Coolderry and Clareen. Would expect KK to advance but could be beaten by either of 3 others in group. I expect Clareen to be bit stronger than people expect after great run last year. Will have done wonders for mor...

Re: RTE team of the Sunday game era

A lot of this involves token nominations to cover all counties. Another caveat is that they have to have won an All Star. For example, Karl O'Dwyer is there as the Kildare rep but you would never pick him ahead of Peter Brady, Niall McNamee or Brendan Lowry. However Lowry is the only one of those t...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

Dont want to dampen your hopes here lads but there is a reasonable chance that all GAA activity could be gone for this year...... If the Brits dont get their house in order, this CV is going to be around for longer than we hope and if that happens, then the year could be called off altogether. Cant ...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

lads in hard luck in fairness to them today. They performed well and were well worth 6pt lead after 75 mins. Lots of young lads out there who will learn and develop from today. Ben Conneely is really a class act for me and has grown as a hurler in last 2 years. Id be putting him in FB and build from...

Re: Offaly U20s

Couple of lads in this team capable of going on to play at co senior level. It is a young team and a few (even the best of them) are underage again next year. Off top of my head Jack Bryant, Cathal O Donoghue and Aidan Bracken among others have potential to step up in coming years. Surprised the yo...
