Re: Lost in the Bog
I'm not trying to be confrontational and I see your point that it is a natural handicap for some lads to be born into clubs that aren't playing at a high level. However unless we create a Kerry-like system, which has been debated to death on the other thread, creating parish sides in Daingean or Ki...

Re: Lost in the Bog
I don't know that it's necessarily the case that there is a bias towards senior clubs in terms of picking county teams. Yes a lot more senior club players get picked, but it's no coincidence that these clubs are senior and that some of the ones you listed aren't - it's because while they might have...

Lost in the Bog
Been thinking about this lately and looking at the way other counties do things. In OY there is a tendency only to pick lads playing senior fball with their clubs. However, there is a massive area which is actually at the epicentre of OY football where players have no opportunity to play senior. The...

Re: Gerry cooney
Agree likj on that. you can add a few more names to that list too, plenty of lads who were just touching off that team and some who played in the earlier rounds. Conor Evans (year out), James Rafferty, James Coughlan, Trevor Phelan, James Keane, Thomas Coughlan, Kevin Lynam, Damien Hunt, Rory/ Ross ...

Re: Gerry cooney
My thoughts on the 2006 management team were well known, but I see a couple of causes for optimism here. (1) Back then, when Kilmurry was sent to the stand and Cooney took charge, our performances improved immensely. (2) Our teams in 2006 usually took the field in good shape, well prepared and with...

Re: Junior A Football
as a Daingean man I believe the criticism of us on this page has being hugely unfair..we accept that the better team won and can have no complaints, most of us are friends with the Cappincur players and are glad they won it ahead of teams like KK/Tullamore/Clara who have no real desire to win the Ju...

Re: Junior A Football
fully agree HSM. Cappincur have some of the finest young talent in OY football in their ranks. Noel Graham and the Carrolls would be well capable of playing county senior in years to come if they were training and playing in the right environment, ie higher level football with club and University Si...

Re: new football manager
have to agree clubman, what is going on is nothing short of a disgrace on the CB and selection committees part. if this committee were worth anything at all, they would have contacted people in time and got a couple of options that they were happy to entertain for interview. It appears that they wer...

Re: new football manager
What the hell is going on at all!! From Niall Macs claims in the interview it appears that there is some underhand work at play from the outside looking in. For the three applicants there appears to be a force at play that they are all aware of, leading to all three resignations if this is true (I a...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
Yea, Alan Cunningham is or was a teacher at St Caimans in Shannon. He played for Clare for a good few years in the 80s and maybe even early 90s before succumbing to a knee injury. He would be well respected as a coach and has been involved in a few Clare teams in the last few years. He served as a c...

Re: Clara vs Edenderry 9/10/11
Definitely agree with some of the points made already. The high ball into reynolds was never a runner with two men back on him. Though reynolds played well and was probably clara's best on the day, he must have been rightly frustrated with the supply and the kicking options from out the field in the...

Re: new football manager
The time is ticking away and the panel are at work trying to procure the new manager or management team. I think it is very important that this is done ASAP so that they can see the championship q finals and the finish of the championships to identify a panel to work with. Any ideas who are in the ...
