Re: selling out to Rupert?

http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/gaelic-games/gaa-to-announce-broadcasting-deal-with-sky-sports-1.1740874 here ya go. It seems that 14 matches will be on Sky. By all accounts this could include the leinster football final and both munster hurling semi-finals as this is the package that TV3 had last y...

selling out to Rupert?

So what do you all think of the great amatuer organisation selling its soul? I know Offaly GAA finances are just about breaking even if not lossmaking with the OConnor Park debt but should we have to pay 72euro (36euro plus 36euro for sky sports) for the pleasure? Does the extra money outweigh the l...

Re: Allianz FL Division 4 2013

A good win today. The play was scrappy at times and the 15 man behind the ball wasnt nice to see but it served its purpose. some promising signs too and hopefully it will spring us on a bit further.

Re: Allianz-Hurling-league 1B

on the subject of this match did anyone think radio 3's coverage of it today was terrible. they had some guy in the studio obviously been told by someone on a phone at the match what the score was yet they had live commentary from division 2 hurling matches that at one stage laois were so far ahead ...

Re: Offaly v Wexford NFL 11/03/2012

What good would Cooney going now do? surely you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear? offaly are a long way behind nearly every other team in leinster these days. people hark back to the 97 days of Tommy Lyons but the team then was a lot different. who in their right mind would take on the offal...

Re: Offaly vs Roscommon NFL Div 3 12th February 2012

have to say i thought that was one of the poorest offaly performances i have seen. where to start? well the fowards looked out of their depth except for anton sullivan. a lot of twisting and turning parallel play that was going nowhere. I know some here say that the art of kicking passing was never ...

Re: new football manager

a sad state of affairs indeed... who in their right mind would want the job now after all the bickering. they will be thinking in the back of their mind that once anything happens every tom dick and harry who loves the sound of their own voice will be complaining at the next county board meeting tha...

Re: Hurling to return to St Brendan's Park

so what will be the outcome? i heard that birr had an inspection last week from a safety consultant with a view to giving a definite capacity limit... the report is to go to croke park. I suspect a lot will depend on the limit imposed. a capacity of at least 7 to 8000 would be needed to get a county...

Re: new football manager

whatever about a high profile manager getting to a leinster final in the next 3 or 4 years dosent seem realistic unless I am missing something. Yes we have some good talented players but there is a lot of average players out there that wouldnt make the first team of kildare dublin etc and I would se...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

what people are getting is a very one sided view at the moment.. once the county board speak on the matter a lot more will be clear and a lot of what was said will be answered in detail.. that dosent excuse some of the county board actions over the years but wait until then...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

dont post often here although i do read the posts a lot. anyway my take on it is there seems to be a power struggle between the hurlers who want to move back to birr and the county board who dont want to loose face. there is a lot more to this that hasnt come out yet. for instance do we know that th...

Re: Offaly SHC County Final 18/10/09 @ 15:30

well done to tullamore. KK although favourites were never really at the races except for a few small periods. excellent attendance although why offaly county board feel they need security guards at the entrance is beyond me??? they were stoping a lot of pensioners without passes getting in... but th...
