Re: Leinster Senior Hurling Offaly V Galway
Have to hand it to the lads. They fought for everything. At stages the Galway lads were spilling ball before the tackle was even made because of the pressure they were being put under for the whole game. I think Portlaoise will suit Offaly better than Croke Park. Tighter pitch and more of an atmosph...

Re: Decision time for West Offaly Lions
I've heard that the Athenry in question is actually in Waterford but not so sure if that's true or not.....
I don't think its a case of better funding. I think the irfu said they were going to withdraw all funding unless the move was made to Leinster.

Re: Decision time for West Offaly Lions
Well actually logistically the move to Leinster would be disastrous. The way the Connacht league works is that each team plays all others once. Leinster leagues are run on a home and away basis. If the lions were to move to Leinster it would mean twice as many games and this is where it gets interes...

Re: Leagues
I think the point of the free tickets for kids is to get more adults to go to matches. Give the tickets to kids in school the Monday before a match and you can be guaranteed they'll spend every day between then and Sunday nagging the parents to bring them, the hope being that the parents give in and...

Re: No more U12 Championship
As both a teacher and a gaa man I couldn't agree with this decision more. Its been shown time and time again that the less competitive a sport is at primary school level the more participants you will have. I see the problem that clubs might have with the reduction to eleven a side but that's the be...

Re: Ferbane Charity Match
Despite a frozen pitch we managed to play the match on the astro turf pitch in Gallen Uniteds grounds and the day went off well! The game ended in a draw as did the penalty shoot out...anyone would think it was a set up! ; ) We raised just over 2000 euro for a good cause so thanks to all who partici...

Ferbane Charity Match
We are having our annual Charity Match this Saint Stephen's Day in Brosna Press Park , Ferbane at 1:45 p.m.. It will be a soccer match between the men and women of the G.A.A. Club and the soccer club with the losers being forced to do a forfeit (yet to be decided, suggestions welcome!) It is in aid ...

Re: Clara vs. Portlaoise - Leinster club semi final 22/11/2009
Missed the start and the goal but thought Portlaoise lorded midfield. Having said that on a wet day like that it can be hard to get the ball out of defence so I'd imagine Clara were capable of getting a run on Portlaoise. Tommo should have had a goal too. Good save from the keeper. Very impressed wi...

Re: Leinster or Munster
Munster without a shadow. Had a few experiences with Leinster lads at underage and to be quite honest I found them to be the most arrogant and belittling people I have ever played against in any sport. It's the whole attitude of the organisation that is wrong in my opinion. The bandwagon thing with ...
