Offaly Minor Football 2024

Well done to Gallen CS on their All Ireland win. A lot of the West Offaly clubs represented which bodes well for the future.

In a side note, best of luck to Kate Kenny Ferbane on her contract with AFL Geelong.

Re: U20 hurlers 23

The more I watch of the game and the more I hear and see the angrier I get. Cork were filthy - go back and watch the Cork midfielders before the throw in - really set the scene for what was to follow. [/quote] Correct. The two midfielders walked over, shook hands and then got two shoulders into the...

Re: National Foothall league Div 2 predictions

No team is in the Tailteann cup until they get knocked out of the provincial championship outside of the provincial final. Why not be the first team to beat Dublin in the provincial championship for over a decade?

Re: Offaly vs Longford, Leinster SFC, Saturday 16/05/2015

I don't comment on here very much for various reasons but decided to tonight. I came back from the US on Friday night for the game and will head back to SF tomorrow, because I had a lot of hope for this team like everyone else. The team looked fit, interested and organized for the first time in a la...

Re: Memories of an Offaly man in Croke Park

Up to now I have only mentioned my memories of our senior games in HQ but I also remember our 3 great minor hurling AI wins and all against Munster teams as well. Reaching the minor hurling and football finals in 1989 was some achievement. '89 was the year that every weekend an inter-county champio...

Re: Amateur or Professional

Another interesting question is, if either Kerry or Cork are beaten in the Semi-final this year and say we end up with a Limerick-Kerry final - are they the two teams kept apart the following year? HQ keep talking about development in Football and hurling but not delivering. In hurling it's the new ...

Up against another Nordie. What were the odds of that? Playing very steady.

Re: What lessons can Offaly learn from Donegal?

1996 Offaly exit the c'ship after a 3 pt loss to a poor Louth team, the years before exits were more painful 10 pt to Meath in '95, 2 pts to Wexford in '94 (when Wexford didn't play football) and 11 pts to Kildare in '93. Offaly football was in div 4, with no confidence of getting out of the basemen...

Re: McDonnell in running for Offaly football job

A few points, 1) I wouldn't consider us a very attractive option right now. A lot of people reckon we're one step above Kilkenny footballers so maybe we should be looking at ourselves as a Div 4 team right now instead of comparing ourselves to the top table. 2) Jason Ryan - School manager before Wex...

The very best of luck lads, give it all for 70 mins and no-one one can say a thing to ye! You're still in the championship and offaly teams ever went out expecting to lose. I like the look of the team. Plenty of youth with a view to build for then future. If the current mangement stay in place throu...

Re: The Parkinson show goes on...

Tommy Carr, on the other hand, is a clown and rarely says anything that isn't self serving. Hopefully his current disastrous stint at the helm of the Westmeath minor footballers will finally see him cast off into oblivion. Sounds like a good man for the next Offaly Senior footballer manager in our ...
