Re: Immigration of club players
This is going to affect every club to some degree. Any clubv that only loses one or two players will probably be ahead of the pack to be honest. Very true lone shark.. If you look at county champions Coolderry, they seem to be lucky enough to have a fairly homebound group off lads. I only know of o...

Re: Offaly team for NUIG walsh cup - 15/01/2011
I think there will only be 2 of that team near the offaly team come championship, Kevin Brady & Diggy Cordial. As I have said before Offaly tend to discard players at the ripe old age of 24-25 if they dont make it. We all know this is a load of bollocks but still we continue it. Kevin Waters is ...

Re: Offaly Hurling
What I would like to see happening is this I feel there are a few players at Junior, intermediate & Senior clubs that could and should get a crack of the whip in offaly (there is a wing forward from Killurin that I was impressed by to name one). I think offaly should appoint a person (im sure so...

Re: Offaly Hurling Panel 2011
I don't know if I necessarily agree with this. In other counties, where there is a strong tradition of gym work and of continuing to develop as an athlete, then I'd say fair enough, but in Offaly, there is a tendency to forget about all that unless you're in training with the county - very few othe...

Re: Offaly Hurling Panel 2011
I think that the panels can sometimes be based soley on good club championship performances. For Example I seen James Rigney a number of times for both Club and County in the last year. For the county I thought he was probably our best and most consistent performer, a player that really held his own...

Re: Senior Hurling Championship 2011 Predictions
My Team from outside the panel would be: 1. Shane O'Connor 2. Trevor Corcoran 3. Brendan O Meara 4. Ciaran Bermingham 5. Conor Hernon 6. Cathal Horan 7. Nicky Lalor 8. Michael Cordial 9. James Keane 10. Sean Ryan 11. Diarmuid Horan 12. Mark Egan 13. Colm Coughlan 14. Conor Gath 15. Alan Egan I am s...

Re: DRUMCULLEN THROUGH TO LEINSTER FINAL
I s'pose you'll always have bedrudgers. I wouldn't be a fan of Drumcullen's owing to their 'traditional' style but they do appear to have got their act together this year and good luck to them. I for one hope they win on Sunday and go on to hurl in Croke Park in February. Furthermore, with next yea...

Re: Bad day for offaly hurling
I think Raharney proved they are a decent team by coming within 3 points of Oulart (favourites to win the all ireland by the way) today, I think it proves my point and hopefully the knee jerk reaction against Coolderry's performance by some contributors on here wont be repeated. Every team has to be...

Re: Bad day for offaly hurling
This result yesterday just proves to me that Tullamore handed Coolderry a county title without testing their metal in the slightest. Now i'm not begrudging Coolderry their title but why didn't Tullamore make them work for it a bit more. Shane Dooley should have started the match either on Joe Brady...

Re: Bad day for offaly hurling
This result just shows what I have been saying for a long time. Offaly hurling is very poor and will be a long time before yee are back a hurlings top table. I think a year in the christy ring would benifit yee. I heard coolderry supporters were abusing their own players at the game. This I very di...

Re: Bad day for offaly hurling
I dont blame the ref, I just think he really didnt have a good game, gave some bad calls but at the end of the day there was nothing between the teams. As for Coolderry hanging their heads...for what winning the county championship and losing to an underrated but good side from westmeath, no they wi...

Re: Bad day for offaly hurling
im just back from mullingar myself townman, not a great day, Raharney were possibly the better team today, certainly the team with the greater hunger, their fight and commitment was very good, also some of the scores they took were brilliant. Having said that the ref definately didnt have a good gam...

Re: When they last won a title
Not 100% sure of the year, but I know Coolderry won the Junior C championship on one or two occasions over the last 5-6 years.
Hard to believe that its 25 years since Kinnity won the Sean Robbins and its going on 20 years now for Rynaghs!!!

Re: SHC Final
One little problem with that strategy, we have half forwards that are a) mobile but incapable of winning primary possesion against an intercounty half back or b) imobile but good ball winners Joe Brady probably gets the most stick of any of the offaly team on this site, in fairness he had a very goo...

Re: SHC Final
I think my drunken haze has just about passed now!!! It was a great day to be a coolderry supporter yesterday. Fair play to Tullamore I was biting my nails at times in the second half when the deficit was reduced to 3. Some great individual performances from Brady, Carroll and Murray but the whole t...
