Great piece of work and such an analysis is badly needed to accurately assess potential playing population in Offaly. Just a couple of observations;
Further analysis should include the schools. C na mB Scoil would have good data but I understand c.55 - 60 schools enter teams (some multiple teams ...

Re: Offaly GAA - in Crisis
Our pain of our very public decline in front of the eyes of the GAA nation over the last number of years has been compounded by the very transparent bloodletting and infighting that has accompanied our sorrowful drift.
In a stronger united County the wagons would circle in times of crises and ...

Re: Cast your vote in the 2016 General Election
(1) Turnout in that area continues to be far below the rest of the county. For whatever reason, people don't bother voting in the same numbers down there. I'm trying to find the full details of the election (broken down by polling station) online, and I haven't managed yet - however I have seen ...

Re: Cast your vote in the 2016 General Election
North Offaly needs to get its act together in order to achieve some balance in representation in the County. As the main centre of population Edenderry in particular needs to get clarity on what it wants to achieve as a major Town in the County. Until that happens and the local business community ...

Re: Minor Football 2015
Would you believe 5 of the starting Edenderry 15 are U16 so they have 2 years left Minor. In reality Edenderry shouldn't be in a position whereby its fielding U16's on a Minor Team and would have the pick to field a team of 18 year olds. However, its increasingly difficult to retain players when the ...

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State
I appreciate that we have been extraordinarily successful in the recent past and this probably accounts for our propensity to look backwards rather than forwards, however its proving very unhelpful in the overall context of improvement for Offaly GAA at the moment. Even the series of recent articles ...

Re: Final venues and Final refs.
I for one was very surprised that the pitch in Kilurin is only 130m long; the minimum size for a GAA pitch. There is only one 65m line on the pitch and it doubles as the half way line. OCP is about 15m longer.
Bracknagh is a pitch I often wondered about too. Seems very short to me

Re: Rhode Have new manager
Just a point to note; the standard club constitution will state that only members that pay their dues prior to the 31st of March shall having voting rights at that years AGM. Previously this was 31st of August but was amemded in recent years.

but you can table a motion on a certain issue. If something is voted and passed at the AGM, the club committee cannot then over-rule that.

Edenderry must also be qualified for the Special Junior Leinster Championship as all other teams remaining in the Junior A Championship have a team playing at a higher grade
