Re: Brian Cowen's legacy of failure as Taoiseach
Game on ..... :D Ah man I was never good at debating, I don't like anything that I can't do better by getting angry! Of course not. However I was not singling out individual TD's - I was saying that most political parties seem to have some sort of raison d'etre. A look at their actions and policies...

Re: Brian Cowen's legacy of failure as Taoiseach
This whole concept is alien to FF who think that their sole job is to guarantee re-election. You can get down of your moral high ground right now if you think FF TDs are the only ones whose #1 objective is to keep their seats for the length of time they wish to be TDs. Secondly, during the HEIGHT o...

Re: Endless summer nights ahead in Offaly
Whats so good about A) a 10-12 week break in the championship & B) whats so good about not playing championship football/hurling in the driest, hotest longest months of the year (June and July)? So Good? Nothing, ideally you'd want the structure setup the way you outlined, but until the county ...

Re: Endless summer nights ahead in Offaly
Question, what would you do differently? (This is a genuine question btw and not me being smart arsed!) As far as I can see there are 2 weeks in July with no football league, and with this setup I can now go and book my summer holiday in confidence. I prefer it 100 times more than the system we had ...

Re: Club Championship Draw
I know and im sure evry club had the same problem at some stage , lads going off to play a soccer or rugby match the day of a game or training but the players should have a choice in what other sports they want to play. Managment would be better off trying to work with players rather than against t...

Re: Offaly Jersey
I got the new white one from the O'Neills site for Christmas, great looking jersey and the only reason sponors sponsor is to get their brand out there, to be fair to Caroll's that is their brand so they are right to look for that on the jersey.

+1Lone Shark wrote:I do think however this is the kind of attitude that's not fair to lads who do put themselves out there - like Casey and Mulhall. They get criticised when they have poor games, and it is compounded by being compared unfavourably to guys who aren't willing to play football for Offaly

Re: General Election time
I would guess that the upshot of this would be that the winner of the Finance Ministry election would be somebody who promises a right wing, low tax, low government interference administration - while the winner of the health, education and social welfare ministries would be the candidates who prop...

Re: General Election time
Here is my idea for how our system should be setup. Redraw your constituencies so that they are more reflective of the current population. Elect your local government The chairman of that local government then becomes that area's representative in the Dáil. After the local elections have been run, c...

Re: Fixture Review ongoing in Offaly
Question 3 part 6 asks: How do you feel about availability of match results at local and national level. Its time to let our feelings known  I think that questions been changed!! For me it reads: The number of games played between 1st May and 31st August in particular championship games Po...

Re: No more U12 Championship
Whilst I would agree that there is great work going on in Ferbane, the fact is that Shannonbridge have had a fair few players on these teams, which will dilute the pipeline into adult teams. I also must say that its a farce of a situation to see Ferbane relegated from Junior A and have a team good ...

Congratulations to Clonmore, would have loved to have been at the game and witnessed the scenes! Delighted for my second favourite team in the county!

Re: Latter Stages of Junior A
I was at the Clonmore Harps \ Ferbane games this year and last and I have to say I'd loved the spirit of the club. The passion was just oozing out of them, to their detriment sometimes, but it was great to see. They reminded me of that RTE show that was on last year about the crowd on the island off...
