Some random points

I agree with a lot of what is said above. I was sadly disappointed but also weirdly delighted with some of the football we played when we were on song: 1. I was surprised that Roy was not introduced because we really needed his pace and ball-winning abilitiy but my question is whether he has recover...

Kelly Interview!!

Good post!! What I was looking for all through the article was confirmation that he had laser surgery! I was delighted to see him being so honest about it. The laser op has to help his judgement and hopefully he'll pick his jumping forays a bit better. He did well against the Wee County and in his l...

Joe Brady's Renaissance

Joe's catching and distribution have impressed me this year. He's using his height & heft a lot more and catching rather than batting. Even at full back earlier on in the year he was taking the time to pick out a good pass. He's playing even better up front and is playing a lot better at full fo...

Selection for Sunday

I was surprised at the selection of D.Hunt and the placing of Shane O'Sullivan/Scott Brady but on reflection I'm quite pleased. D.Hunt did well to beat out Paschal Kelleghan, Mark Daly and John Kenny (I'd have them in that order although the management probably wouldn't). I've seen Hunt play very we...

O'Hara Got Red!

Just to clarify as requested - Mick O'Hara got a deserved Red card near the end. It might have had something to do with O'Hara doing a Robbie Keane ten minutes earlier when soloing clean through one on one in twenty yards of space and hitting the goalie from two yards out. Fair play though - he kept...

Offaly Hurlers Loss to Carlow!!

I expect there will be the predictable cries and moans from the usual suspects about the end of the world for Offaly hurling. I was at the match and Offaly were pretty poor but Carlow were also pretty good. This was a big step-up from playing Kildare and Roscommon. Carlow owned the ball for most of ...

Beware the Wides of March!!

That is an attractive analysis, Lone Shark, and sums up our difficulties. A few comments at the risk of over-analysis. First I am not sure if blind adherence to the Meath System of the Long Ball to Two Gifted Forwards is going to work in the modern game. At least we have moved on to it from the Brai...

Hurling Full Back

I actually think Joe Brady has played very well at full back. The ball was allowed to hang around the square too long last Sunday for Westmeath's first goal but otherwise he has been sound. Very tight marking, stays on his feet, nobody gets past and he is very thoughtful in his distribution of the b...

Where?

I was at the match in Urlingford and the Lone Shark report is spot on. Can anybody tell me is Thomas Coughlan in the U-21 Squad? I would have thought he would be considered good enough given his senior squad exposure. I was wondering also about Gearoid O'Grady, having seen him come on for Offaly Sen...

Kilkenny This Saturday Feb 26?

I heard the Under 21 Match with Kilkenny has been brought forward to Sat Feb 26? If true, it would mean that Offaly could pick a side without worrying about the Seniors playing the following day. Anyway, whichever Saturday we are playing, I am looking forward to seeing the line-up - 14/1 with Ladbro...
