Re: Offaly U21 hurlers 2017

Thanks for that Plain. Badly needed your report as was feeling very depressed about the score line this morning. Some hope in that we were competitive for most of the game. I would have had reasonably high expectations for this group especially as I felt Wexford shouldn't be as strong as they have b...

Re: National Hurling League 2017

Best of luck to Offaly hurlers tomorrow. Bookies have Offaly as favourites 1/2 or 8/15 and I suppose that is fair enough even though I thought they might have us as evens. Despite results so far - Offaly still should be able to win in Tralee, although don't think there will be much in it. Thankfully...

Re: Football league 3 2017

Huge game against Sligo tomorrow - best of luck to all involved! Results tonight mean - if Offaly win tomorrow and it is between Offaly/Laois and Longford/Antrim ( & possibly Sligo ) to be relegated. Will be tough game in Sligo tomorrow first.

Re: U21 Hurling Championship.

This will be a very interesting championship with the shock results tonight. Fair play to Westmeath beating Kilkenny and Carlow beating Laois (altho it will be a big setback to Laois.) Wexford can't be as strong this year after 3 in a row altho McDonald is still underage. Dublin are probably favouri...

Re: Offaly v Kerry, Leinster round robin, Sunday 22nd May

Driving up from West Waterford for this one - first Offaly hurling game of the year for me - hopefully not the last at the same time. Best of luck to all involved and we should get over the line once lads settle down into the game. Offaly need big support tomorrow. These are the lads who committed t...

Re: Leinster MHC 2016

I don't think they are in place to be honest results are still poor at underage by all accounts. Nobody will go up against them as there is so many to get rid of I don't know where do u start. If they all stood down im sure we would get a decent set up going. Why don't you put yourself forward for ...

Re: 2016 Offaly Club Draws

Is there no Junior B hurling championship this year? or does anybody know? Numbers playing adult hurling in Offaly really seem to be down. No team from North Offaly in Junior A hurling championship- thought County Board were going to look at an amalgamated team at Junior A when Edenderry were not en...

Inter County Hurling Managers Under Pressure

So far it has not being a great hurling championship. It's being okay - lets hope that we have exciting quarter-finals, semi-finals and final ahead of us. Definitely some managers are now under pressure and it will be interesting to compare how the different County Boards deal with the current manag...

Re: U21 LHS Offaly v Wexford, O'Connor Park, 7.30pm

Paddy Rigney corner back (and Kevin O Connor goalkeeper) have been fixed to play 3 championship games in 4 days. Wednesday Offaly under 21s, Friday under 21 championship semi-final for Cúchulainn Gaels and this evening (Saturday) for Kinnitty Junior A Footballers against Clara. A lot to ask of young...

Re: A few thoughts on Galway v Laois

Yeah not a great day for hurling, Leinster hurling, Laois hurling or indeed Offaly hurling as it shows how far off the pace we really are at the moment. Over the years I'm constantly trying to defend Leinster hurling against Munster hurling but being realistic there is a big difference in the two pr...

Re: Hurling in January! Would the GAA get a grip?

I actually don't think it is actually that bad organising Walsh Cup and Waterford Crystal games in January. Pitches and facilities are better now than they were years ago. So underfoot conditions are improving with time. A surface like Croke Park could be played on at any time of the year and if you...

Re: Hurling in January! Would the GAA get a grip?

Apparently inter-county hurling resumes on Sunday. That’s Sunday the 11th January. That the GAA at national (and provincial) level is organising hurling at this time of year is simply outrageous. The football might have started last Sunday, and those whose preference is football can feel free to co...

Re: 2015 Walsh cup

Has anyone got a list of the subs for tomorrow? Thanks

Let's hope team get off to a winning start. Good to see 3 debutants. Seemingly training is going better than last year but this is second hand information! Hopefully it is going well!
