Happy Christmas to all. It's been quite around here for the last few days.
Anyway now the turkey is gone we can look forward to the new season with the Walsh Cup first on the menu for the Hurlers. I was just wondering when, where and and who we are against in the first round?

Re: Clara vs. Portlaoise - Leinster club semi final 22/11/2009
The Clara penalty was as clear as they come but would think a straight red is more so a soccer rule. Dont think the goal scoring opportunity or last man tackle comes into GAA? Spot on there. There is no distinction given as to where a foul is commited. If it deserves a yellow or a red, only depends...

"We could have insisted on a toss but we have to try and be fair to everyone. Tullamore is not ideal for us. It's an extra hour for us up the road from Portlaoise but so be it.

Are they cycling or driving to Tullamore?

Re: Another Record FOR Offaly in Hurling
We Where one player short of doing it in 98 as well , stephen Bryne of kk the only one not to have one He might take a leaf out of Damien Fox's book and have a crack at it next year with KK. Having watched them a few times this year I think they could do with him between the sticks. He would be ble...

Re: 2010 Offaly Games Structures
If a dual player was on two successful teams it could be all wrapped up in 16 games. Are you trying to say that a fit athelete could not cope with 16 games in one season. And what of the non dual players. Should they be restricted to playing only a few meaningful games per year as in the past. In t...

Re: 2010 Offaly Games Structures
Lads, you can't tell me that playing 4 senior club championship games in a row wouldn't lead to burn out. The knocks that lads get don't get a chance to heal and just get worse and by the end of the year lads are as fit as a fiddle for you, could run a marathon if you asked them to, but they're stu...

Re: Leinster SHC 2010
. . The out and out droping of Brian Mullins is also drastic if not (unfortunately) unexpected. On his day he is a gifted goalie and for shot stopping ability would be up there with the best of them. Luckily, Dempsey is also a very talented goalie and he'll slot into the number one jersey with the ...

Re: Leinster SHC 2010
To me the big carrot of drawing Antrim is that a win and subsequent advancing to the semi-final would avoid getting the Tipperary / Cork loser in the qualifier, as happened this year. A semi-final against Wexford or Galway, even if they lost, would give them a better grounding before facing a Munst...

Re: Offaly SHC Structure 2009/2010
I would agree with the proposal by GDFTP. You have to reward teams who make the effort the finish top, and by going straight to the 1/4 finals all competing teams are treated equally. Those that finish 5th/6th then play off for relegation. With regard to your point on completion i think early/mid oc...

Re: Offaly SHC County Final 18/10/09 @ 15:30
I'd be amazed if that free count is correct for two reasons ( although i heard the ref was poor too)
1. I have never seen a hurling match with anything near 49 frees, and
2. If a free count was 3.5/1 in a game how would the ref get off the field alive.

Re: Rynaghs v Coolderry Minor match
There needs to be a bigger drive to provide first aid training to people involved with teams as a priority. As for having doctors available at all games it is not feasable. espescially when you consider that the CB failed to provide the U16 Hurling squad with anyone when they travelled to the Tipper...

Re: chicks with sticks
Congrats to the cailíní. It has been a long time since we got a cup in coker. Fair play to them and well done to all concerned. I hope they enjoy the celebrations. One thing that maybe should be mentioned is that Offaly camogie got to the All Ireland final, and won it AFTER the offaly senior camogie...

Croke Park Presentation
I see the GAA are once again trying to have its presentations for liam, sam etc on a podium on the pitch. Some chance, i'd say Plan B will be called into action as usual. But it got me remeniscing about better days. I was just wondering when did the tradition die out of fans actually climbing out on...

Re: Updated Fixtures and Draft Schedule of Remaining Games
Doobane, My point certainly is not a moot point. Were both semi-finals to be played on the same bill, as a double header, then there would be an obvious saving to the patron even if there were to be a premium attached to entry fee, there being two senior semi finals. Now I accept that the Board sho...
