Re: Meeting In Tullamore

13 years after redevelopment OCP remains the best ground of it's size on the island. It ticks every box.
Keep in mind that one of the main aims of this regressive "High powered" group attempting to take over the county board is to move hurling matches out of this facility. You couldn't make it up.

Re: Meeting In Tullamore

If Pairc Tailteann can host county finals then Birr definitely can. And also it was interesting to note all the people stand on a grassy bank at the Antrim county final 10 days ago on TG4. I often think we are the only county that ever adhered to H&S for our grounds. It was a handy excuse for many ...

Re: Meeting In Tullamore

Hurling was destroyed when it went to OCP north offaly folk dont care about hurling.keep it in Birr for the better. now that's an ignorant comment. Didn't take long for the bile to emerge. Back to the 'high powered 'group. Have been speaking to people about this development. General consensus seems...

Re: Meeting In Tullamore

The stand in Birr isn't fit for a county final? Ah come on. First it was the grassy banks and now that they have been replaced its the stand now? If Pairc Tailteann can host county finals then Birr definitely can. And also it was interesting to note all the people stand on a grassy bank at the Antr...

Re: Meeting In Tullamore

What are the plans and timelines in terms of the redevelopment of the stand in Birr? It's currently not fit for purpose for a huge game like a county final that will attract 5,000 - 6,000 patrons. Also we are led to believe that a huge amount of "supporters" who haven't attended a county final since...

Re: Meeting In Tullamore

mmmmm.... I’m hearing that the Scientologists are willing to fund floodlights for SBP, provided that they’re allowed to develop their own facilities in Birr😂😂😂 They should sell off SBP altogether and use the funds from the sale to install floodlights in OCP. I await your responses to this measured ...

Re: Newspaper Articles and other media bits

On a side note, how is hurling going in Bracknagh and Daingean at the minute? As you know it's non-existant in Bracknagh. However unlike Edenderry there isn't a 125 year history of hurling there. Edenderry allowed a proud hurling history just disappear. Years of underage neglect led the adult team ...

Replicating what Edenderry has done should be first and foremost.
What? Get rid of hurling completely. Thats what they did in Edenderry isn't it?

Re: Newspaper Articles and other media bits

What sort of carry on is this? Corrigan describes them as "high powered". Whats high powered about them? This would be like an unelected group getting together and calling for a meeting with the government where they'll sit and tell them they don't think they are doing a good enough job and that the...

Re: Senior A Hurling 2019

get the Junior B final. Fair play to Kinnitty for putting in a team. Pity that other hurling dominant clubs don’t. Most in Leix do, with the exception of Clough Ballacolla I think. Rarhdowney and Errill compete separately at football, as do Boris-in-Ossory and Kilcotton. Continuity of existence for...

Re: Next Offaly Senior Hurling Manager

Actually to the best of my knowledge Tommy Byrne was manager of the Gracefield Junior Hurlers this year so he probably had a lot more input into hurling in 2019 than most of the posters on this site. He hurled for Gracefield (back when they were a intermediate side) for 20 years so all said he'd be...

Re: Senior A Football 2019

However, the clubs voted for it this year... St. Brigids & Ballycommon I know voted against it, so it wasn't unanimous. Not sure if any others did. Thats a shame for Ballycommon so. Ye are good enough to win the relegation match but thats little consolation. This seeding in the groups annoys me a b...
