Re: The offaly way.

While I too look forward to seeing how the process will play out, I can’t help thinking the modern game know all's will be sharpening their pencils and writing their letters. Their wish lists will include: Handpassing only. Any kicking or striking (depending on code) will result in serious punishmen...

Re: Severe lack of Offaly O’Neills Gear on website

Lads use the Christmas break to get up off yer arses, get in shape and make it onto one of the county panels in January (hurling or football........both if you are really good). You'll get as much county gear as you can handle then. Please don't respond with excuses..."oh I'm too fat", "oh I'm too o...

Offaly county board until this year has been very poorly ran.
Good to hear this. What areas this year have better do you think albeit with all the problems covid presented?
It needs to be monitored year by year so that same mistakes are not made.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

I believe as a county our humiliation is now complete. Not being able to win 2 games in the Christy Ring is realistically as low as it gets surely? As for Mick Fennelly? What he didn't know is that any man that signs up for the Offaly hot seat (and it is hot, very hot  ) effectively signs his ow...

Re: Offaly V Kildare 2nd round of LSFC

Hmmmmm. Kildare were shocking bad today. Totally aimless for the last 45 minutes of that Meath match. Offaly never realistically looked like winning last Sunday against what now turns out to be a poor outfit. Meath gobbled up the goal chances again today whereas our boys lost their wood when present...

Re: Offaly V Kildare 2nd round of LSFC

Size looks to be a potential issue which is all the more reason to spread out and run at them. Kildare haven't set the world alight in the league during the year and if this was in summer I'd be a lot more worried. The fact that it's in Portlaoise probably sealed Offalys faith. I'm going to do some ...

Re: Standard of Senior club hurling in Offaly

As we become more sophisticated with preparation and sports science we will see more and more set plays from general play . There will be more and more thought and choreography into each play and the off the cuff hurling will not be as prominent............. Stronger more athletic players who are t...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

What skills have been lost? 1. Overhead striking 2. Pulling hard on the ground 3. Man on man pulling with breaking of sticks 4. The art of the goal poaching 5. Hitting the ball as far as you can and something spontaneous happening as a result Don't be codding yourself POTH, todays intercounty hurli...

Re: DIV 3 NFL predictions and general chit chat.

Another shocker today. Desperately negative stuff. I'll say it again.....the ultra negative 15 men behind the ball does not suit this team. Maughan needs to watch back the Meath game from last year and see how these lads can actually attack. I don't care if theres a strong wind and the opposition ha...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

If the situation is that if 1 fella comes back positive therefore the whole panel is out of action then its fair to say none of these championships will be valid and will probably not finish at all. May i suggest getting together 24 lads from the clubs that were due to play the co finals. They were ...

Re: Senior A Football Champioship

Edenderry spent a year at Intermediate around 2008ish. It was 2007 POTH. They were relegated in 2006. Does anyone remember the full circumstances around their relegation? It was chaotic if I remember correctly. There were 3 teams involved. Edenderry, Shannonbridge and Doon and 2 were to be relegate...

Still no fixture updates on the Fixtures and Results section of the official website and we are about 65 hours away from some of the biggest games of the year. Harmless effort from county board.

Re: Standard of Senior club hurling in Offaly

Great topic. I usually see a couple of games down in Carlow during a normal year. What has stood out for me over the last few years is the difference between the ability of Carlow club players to win ball in the air compared to what I see in our club games. High ball being caught all over the pitch ...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

So the crowds are gone for games so thats that for the year. Another bullshit decision based on no science or facts whatsoever. I want to say fair play to Michael Duignan for what he said on the news this evening. He called it for what it is. I've been a critic of his but thats good leadership he's ...

3 live games from the SFC being streamed this weekend. €5 per game. Great value. Fair play to all involved.
Excellent value, can't argue with that.
