Re: Next Offaly Senior Hurling Manager

The abuse of managers and players from the stands is totally unacceptable. Players yes it's unacceptable, managers no they don't deserve sympathy. Are you aware of the size of the illegal payments most of these parasites are getting? It's the biggest scandal in the GAA ever and it's happening right...

Re: Is there a future for small rural clubs?

Lot of small clubs in GAA only jogging along and lads with ambition are being held back. So would you be in favour of allowing players just pick and choose what club they play for? So if you are living in Daingean but fancy playing with Tullamore to help your intercounty prospects then you should b...

Re: Is there a future for small rural clubs?

Yes for sure there is a future for small rural clubs. But there will be some casualties along the way as there always has been I guess. Ballyfore have been relying on lads to tog recently who backboned the team 20-25 years ago. They must be abstaining a lot there because they have produced almost no...

Queen’s County. Match is in Maryborough.
How would a fella get there from Bracknagh? Would he take the Cooletoodera road?

Re: Next Offaly Senior Hurling Manager

Guessing it won’t be Brian Carroll anyway going by his interview with RTE He rightly calls out the ridiculous badly timed comments by a certain attention seeking ex player. Empty vessel. It's clear that said attention seeking ex player had intended to destabilise the situation and he clearly succee...

Re: Joe McDonagh cup

getting in and out of Tullamore town is not the issue, its having to park in the housing estates off the main road, clogging them up on the local residents, queing for almost half an hour then to get back out on the main road, and then crawl the whole way to the outskirts of the town...no thanks......

Re: Joe McDonagh cup

Few have commented on the game itself. The year has been horrendous for the players and things weren't helped in the lead up to this crunch game. Bringing in players who hadn't been involved all year at the expense of some who were(I've seen this at all levels of GAA and never has it gone down well ...

Re: Offaly v London Football Qualifiers

Went as expected really. I've been critical of Anton in the past but both today and against Meath he really has been excellent. Panda had one of them days where everything he touched turned to gold....the complete opposite to his Meath performance! Cunningham and Carroll were not overly involved and...

Re: Joe McDonagh cup

Assuming they were in Kerry today. Watched Gaanow and was pretty shocked to see one of our selectors and main coach commentating up in Antrim. You would have thought full focus is required by everyone for a few weeks. Couldn't agree more. That same individual spends a lot of time talking about what...

Re: Joe McDonagh cup

Lads I'm surprised I have to spell this out to ye but here goes. The whole purpose of the JMcD cup is to keep the lesser teams down and insulate the bigger TV revenue generating teams as much as possible. Some of the crazy scenarios it can potentially throw up are ridiculous: 1. Kerry could finish r...

Re: Offaly U20s Football

Would either player make the senior team Fair question. Honest answer is it's open to opinion. I'd fear a situation would develop whereby they'd end up starting games here and there and then been taken off early making little impact. Don't underestimate the pressure young players put themselves und...

Re: Joe McDonagh cup

I know 3pm on a Saturday doesn't suit everyone (a working day for many), but if the passion and emotion in Joachim's voice in last weekend's radio interview is anything to go by, we can expect Offaly to die with their boots on come Saturday. I think they'll be worth the spin over. A reminder that a...

Re: Offaly U20s Football

The decision to have players like Cian Farrell and Cian Johnson stick with the unders 20's will pay off long term. This is ideal for them in my opinion. We've seen some hurlers rushed through the system to play senior intercounty and one wonders if the best has been got from them as a result?

Wasn't it something similar when they came to Tullamore 3 years ago?

Re: Leinster Under 20 Hurling Championship

Big win tonight. Well done to all. A savage amount of work is going on at underage level in Offaly at present more than ever in our history. If we are happy to blame the CB when the teams are hammered then equally they deserve credit when teams are properly prepared. It's away to Carlow next on Sat...
