Re: National leagues 2022
Hurlers In 2021 the hurlers played 5 league and 3 Christy Ring games with an average winning margin of just over 21 points. They would have had an overwhelming majority of the possession in these games which allowed Fennelly to implement a clear game plan. Last year you could see the players knew w...

Re: National leagues 2022
Absolutely infuriating that we are playing Galway in Salthill in both codes and it’s not a double header. Has anyone any intelligence in Croke Park’s fixture making committee? Also surely a double header with Clare could have been facilitated aswell with reverse fixtures or something of the like fo...

Re: Club Hurling championship
To be fair, that's the complete opposite of what St. Rynagh's did. Even before Joe Cuddihy was sent off, Rynagh's had a sweeper operating in front of the full back line, cutting off low balls into Cody and Fennelly. I'm not saying that there's any right or wrong to that approach, but 100% that's wh...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Championship 2021
Clara made heavy work of it yesterday and need more composure in front of goal, that said they were missing 2 automatic starters in Tomo and Ross Brady. Clonbullogue continue their destruction of anyone that crosses their path. Another hammering handed out to the Kilkenny champions. Great to see the...

Re: Club Hurling championship
Jeez lads don't be listening to me about hurling! 50-50 game with Clough and Ballyhale I said earlier in the week. Instead we got a record breaking demolition. Ballyhale played quick direct ball into their forwards knowing well they had the beating of that Clough defence in the air and physically. C...

Re: Club Hurling championship
Will Clough/Ballacolla beat them on Sunday, or will Ballyhale fall in the semi finals/ final? Clough/Ballacolla are a far fresher looking side. Their use of the ball in their 2 games so fair in Leinster has been eye catching. Stephen Maher has been grabbing the headlines but he is finishing off som...

Re: Club Hurling championship
The other thing is most people outside Offaly or Kilkenny just see Ballyhale 3-24 Rynaghs 2-18, spot the 9 point win and shrug "ah as expected". They aren't even aware it was after extra time. A win would have added to the general feel good factor around Offaly GAA right now but an honoura...

Re: Club Managers 22
Good old Offaly hurling. Going to hurl like it's still the 1900s. Nice neat 3-3-2-3-3, flat full-forward line (I suppose everyone needs corner-forwards to be the first to be taken off when things are going wrong outfield) and so on. It would be concerning if someone progressive like Bugler is to be...

Re: Club Hurling championship
So so disappointed for St.Rynaghs today. I haven't been this excited during a game for another club in a long long time. Couple of things come to mind. Firstly, the set up for the first 15 minutes was going to make scoring practically impossible for Rynaghs. At times 6 defenders on 3 plus Ballyhale ...

Re: Club Managers 22
Edenderry have advertised for the senior football position.
I always feel they tend to underachieve at senior level. They may need a manger that "gets the best" out of the team as the saying goes rather than some lad that will just come in and set them up if that makes sense?

Re: O'Connor Park lease debacle
Kevin, this years Convention Report which is just out stated the following: "In relation to OCP Lease, this issue continues to be addressed. Offaly GAA wrote to Tullamore GAA, with proposals to settle the OCP rent dispute for 2020 and 2021. We are awaiting a response from Tullamore GAA in this ...

Niall Mac is back John Maughan salutes ‘remarkable’ Niall McNamee who’ll be back for a 19th season with Offaly Great to see. I'd say he wants a crack at higher opposition next year. With all the withdrawals and injuries this is very welcome news. https://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-games/gaelic...

Ah that pesky OCP, is there anything it's not responsible for?
I don't mind an aul spin down to the land of the Yella Bellies every now and then to be honest.

Re: Leinster Football Championship 2022
In 2010 the county board in their infinite wisdom entered into a home and away arrangement with Wexford for our senior inter county championship games. Why have you a problem with that arrangement Frank? It prevents us having to play every game in Portlaoise. At least this way we get home advantage...
