Re: A hundred years ago . . .

[ quote= BNAMan"] In 1883 Tullamore replaced Daingean as the focal point of the county. As a result Philipstown was demoted from capital town to village and as a result lost most of its political status. It was in 1922, with the foundation of the Free State, that the village was renamed Daingea...

Re: Question 6

I dont think the years you have quoted are right there. Offaly minors didnt reach leinster final in 1988- did the cats not beat them in portlaoise in the semi final powered by Adrian Ronan?

Re: Vinny Claffey Interview on edenderrygaa.com

I think its a standard question which appears to be asked to every ex player and it doesnt mean its the interviewers particular opinion just because the players say they are in favor of it. And also people in the same clubs often do have different opinions I think this is the crux of it all really....

Re: ALAN MCNAMEE.

Some thoughts on Alan McNamee...I first came up against the colousus from Fahy Hill way back in 1994 and since then, whether good or bad performances I would think that he is head and shoulders above the rest of the midfielders in the county. Since the retirement from inter county football of the Gr...

Re: Reeling In The Years 2 Club Football 1988-1998

I'm missing a guy from Daingaen - a very useful forward - that may have been in with the County during these years. He's my final sub. Name that sub! Would it be a Spollen lad that played in portlaoise against kildare in 1993? Paddy Stones of Rhode was a minor of 1993/4 (Rhode won back to back) whi...

Re: Reeling In The Years 2 Club Football 1988-1998

Declan Farrell Edenderry with Four Senior championship medals was one of the best players on the club scene from 1983-1997 (he has a medal in 2001 as a sub). He was highly regarded by his team mates and opposition as one of the best club players in the county. Also has a Leinster medal from 1982 but...

Re: Jody lets rip!!

Its probably a typo BNMM, but just to avoid confusion the quote you use are Jody's words not mine. Agreed a former player's opinions can be coloured if he has a former teamate going for the job. In 1996 Offaly County Board appointed a 6 man committee (none of whom were members of the executive of th...

Jody lets rip!!

Probably the biggest disaster ever to be appointed to the management of a county team (and there still letting him do it which is part of the reason that underage football is so poor in the county) but i would agree whole heartedly with Gunning's comments below Offaly board blasted for overlooking D...
