Re: Club Football

15th December (15 & 12) 1884 represents the date on which the Clara GAA club was founded, making it one of the older clubs in Ireland. Thanks for that bit of background on Clara GAA magpie. I read somewhere that an M. H. White, a local businessman, was involved at that inaugural meeting. I wond...

Re: Club Football

Fixtures and dates out for all the semi finals. Intersting to see Fergal Smyth ref the Tullamore v Durrow game. His son plays with Tullamore underage and he helps with coaching them. Surely a conflict of interest there. Few dubious decisions in the Tullamore v Ballycommon game this year and even mo...

Re: Club Football

Completely off topic here but can someone tell me what the 15 & 12 represents on the Clara crest ?? 15th December (15 & 12) 1884 represents the date on which the Clara GAA club was founded, making it one of the older clubs in Ireland. Thanks for that bit of background on Clara GAA magpie. I...

Re: Club Football

Edenderry with 1 miserable score from play in 60minutes and the mighty Rhode and Tullamore serve 4 points from play between them in a game that was described to me as "beyond atrocious" by a bemused eye witness from Daingean. That's the general state of football around the country not jus...

Re: Club Football

Draw game in the end. 2-05 to 1-08. Edenderry only managed 0-01 play and that came in the 59th minute. Highlight of the game was a cracking goal from Cian Farrell direct from a mark. I’m beginning to think this championship is wide open and we could have a left field winner. I'm not so sure. Tullam...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers - Planning for 2025, Mickey Harte onboard

Not sure I'd agree fully with that. There probably is an insecurity complex within Offaly GAA around promoting from within. There may not be many but there certainly are some potential senior coaches and managers in Offaly capable of adding something to those U20 hurling teams and football teams. J...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers - Planning for 2025, Mickey Harte onboard

I understand the issues in relation to DK and the new arrangements but Mickey Harte is massive name and has won a lot in his time to disregard this appointment and to somehow twist it onto Michael Duignan as a black mark is ludicrous. The same would probably say in 5 years time that not enough was ...

Re: Club Football

What's that? The last year NONE of Rhode, Tullamore, Ferbane and Edenderry reached the semi-finals? I'd say never, off the top of my head. Maybe 1984 or 1985, if ever. Could someone fill me in as to the last year the “Big 4 “ weren’t the last 4 left standing? No, I was trying to find out when was t...

Re: Club Football

Rhode are moving well and were impressive in spots . Ballycomon had a lot of possession but played into Rhodes hands . Rhode while dropping everybody back hit ballycommon on the counter attack and picked off their scores Ballycommon just seemed to run into the a wall of Rhode men and that’s exactly...

Terrible outfit but the county patches are a nice touch alright.
The outfits looked like a 70’s glam rock outfit.
