Re: 2015 SFC Final - Edenderry vs. Rhode 11/10/15

Ever since the messiah cleared the temple, the town have really been producing miracles. For how else can two County titles in five years be explained? All under the all too real threat of another excommunication! Under the gaze of Caesar and son, Edenderry fought brilliantly to annex their greatest...

Re: RHODE MARCH ON

Very quiet on this topic. I would fancy Rhode due to the fact that Meath football have never really produced decent Senior champions(Richie Kealy's Dunshaughlin team of ten years ago aside). Skryne though are strong all round and put 21 scores on the board against Senechalstown in the Royal decider....

Re: Rhode vs Clara Offaly SFC Final 2010

What a great read Magpie. Its rare to come across anything here worth looking at twice! For the decider, Old Moore's Almanac could easily be the answer as to which Leinster club contender shall vanquish. It's a feature easily ignored, for winter conditions adds an air of unpredictability to proceedi...

Re: No more U12 Championship

More oul populist shite there from Sweeney. He can get it right the odd time but most of that article is crap. Sweeney, of course, tries to come across as some sort of GAA lover when a glance at his book on Sligo Rovers and a bile filled chapter relating to the GAA would show where his real loyalti...

Re: County senior football championship

To begin, heartiest congratulations to Edenderry for the retention of their Senior status. A noble feat, considering the task that eventually befell them... Time to reflect and recharge as knockout football awaits us next year... Well we live in hope :) It's the first two group Championship in moons...

Re: Uibh Fhaili SFC odds 2010

Ladbrokes have stepped into the breach now with SFC odds as well. Odds against about Rhode and a few bigger prices that might be worth keeping an eye on for those so inclined. Rhode 11/10 Clara 15/8 Tullamore 10/1 Shamrocks 12/1 Ferbane 16/1 Gracefield 16/1 Walsh Island 16/1 Erin Rovers 20/1 Tubber...

With that set up and the talent there is in the club I can't see anything but good things.
Brady is a true hero, great to see him there.

Re: IFC

One for the football anoraks: Lads when did Walsh Island last play senior football? I recall they went down to junior ranks at one stage, and right enough I see they won the Junior football title in 1996. In the absence of a Walsh Island contributor, I would hazard the guess that it was 1992 and it...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Championhsip

I think this is a fair point. In the middle-to-late 90s and early noughties, although Edenderry won 4 championships, they had fairly stiff competition from a number of clubs along the way. During this 7 year period, Edenderry, Shannonbridge, Tullamore and Rhode won championships while Clara and par...

However a commentator should be tough-skinned and take it that as sure as night follows day,, there are folks destined to take him on in cyberspace or in the licenced premises I’ve witnessed poor Kevin Corrigan been stepped to a few times, from county players and supporters alike. . Kevin Corrigan ...

Re: Beer Bans

I find the attitude of some on this forum to drinking bemusing to say the least. A concoction of pints and shorts is no preparation for a match, training and indeed sport at any high level. It's interesting that Rhode consistently expect and enforce lengthy drinking bans throughout the Senior Champi...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Championship 2009

Ferbane's biggest advantage is the Kevin Gavin factor. He has forgotten more about football then most in the County will ever know. A partially fit Aidan Keenaghan is a big loss to Ferbane though. According to the whispers he only got a cast off his arm in July. If ever anything needed testing... :t...

Re: the so called gulf between senior and intermediate

Walsh Island must be heavy favourites. They are far more balanced than years ago and possess real class all over the field. They've mixed very well in the Senior league and as I mentioned before I don't believe in the downgrading of the league's importance. It's quite an accurate barometer of footba...
