Re: Under 21 Championship
My view on the Rhode seven in a row is that, among other things, it's a shocking indictment of the state of Offaly football. Of course Rhode would have won a few titles anyway over this period but at this stage they are going to win a seventh. Think about it, all the Rhode senior, junior and St. Bri...

Re: First indication of football panel for 2009
[quote="Tar Man"]Have to agree with Lone Shark about Aidan Keenaghan. In my biased opinion he was one of the best footballers in the county championship. He proved it against both county finalists in Ferbane's games against them. I would also like to add David Lowry of Ferbane to the mix. ...

Re: "Another way of assessing which teams can play senior"
In one sense I have to agree with Richie O' Connor here. For the good of football in the County I really believe that two teams should go down from senior every year. Maybe something like one from Intermediate and one from the Division One League( If it's the same team the second last team in Divisi...

Re: Richie Connor set to become new manager
Until we put in place divisional teams, this will always be the way. I'm a long standing fan of that system, but in the meantime it is unrealistic to expect that all thirty players on the panel will be from senior clubs. Let's look at it another way - there are over thirty different clubs that play...

Re: Richie Connor set to become new manager
I support and endorse Richie Connor's appointment. I think we need to determine what lads want to play, and get them lads playing gutsy stuff. that's the number one priority as i see it. leap into them lads I know what you mean. The great P Diddy said 'A life without passion is unforgivable'. Serio...

Re: Rhode V Tullamore
Any odds on this match. Its hard to believe that its 1954 since these two last met in a county final as they have 47 titles between them. I feel that Rhode will be favs, maybe 4/6 and Tullamore 11/8. Any thoughts?? Who will Tullamore have on Niall Mac?? The last time these two teams played the marg...

Re: worst pitch in offaly
Mucklagh was very poor as well when we played Ferbane there recently. It holds a lot of water and the slope doesnt do either team any favours. I'm no landscaper but that slope must be ten feet  Our own field has been very well presented when it comes to championship matches. You said it!

Re: Richie Connor set to become new manager
Eh I'm not exactly overjoyed with the decision... For me there was one outstanding indiginous candidate ie. Stephen Darby There was also one relatively cheap but potentially fantastic other candidate ie. Séan Dempsey I'd like to think they were contacted at least and not left fester in Johnstownbrid...

Re: Kerry V Tyrone - Who would you choose?
I've seen Mike Frank Russell since 1997 and there is no doubt he is an intelligent, classy and at this stage experienced footballer. I think the problem for Mike is that he is incapable of winning 50/50 ball. He is also not physically strong and is mentally weak. Sine 2003 and the tactics that have ...

Re: Kerry V Tyrone - Who would you choose?
Great picture
As for the match it's really hard to know I could make an argument both ways. On the basis that Mickey Harte is such a crafty operator I will go with Tyrone. Absolute no confidence in the prediction though

Re: Senior Football Relegation '08
In the grand scheme of things Saturday was a distinct sideshow. Football's footnote. Nothing to see here. However for the 200 hundred club die-hards and interested neutrals, this was a must see spectacle. Mucklagh was the venue for arguably the two premier clubs of the nineties to lock horns in this...
