I feel under awful pressure now following our administrators build up. Heres a few thoughts I have in the lead up to Saturday evening. Championship hurling returns to O’Connor Park, Tullamore on Saturday evening for the visit of Limerick for the next round on the championship qualifiers. This will ...

Re: Davy Fitz

If he's such a gent, why did he throw out a group of girls from his pub for simply being from Offaly? He was chatting away with them until he asked them where they was from. When they told him, he told them to finish their drinks and get the f*ck out. Lovely. I know one of them and she's not a bull...

Yeah, I'd say they are made up on the spur of the moment. Probably by gobshite Marty who hasn't a clue anyway :) I was surprised as ye when he said about Division 1, because I never heard of Division 1 being a factor before. I reckon it's based on Provincial Championships, and maybe our 1997 title ...

Re: Clare

Did you hear Davy Fitz y'day? Unreal. Big excitement about David Fitzgerald going 5 matches wothout conceding a goal. Incidentally Dylan Hayden was the last man to score a goal against him, in Portlaoise last year. Interesting to note, Brian Mullins has now gone 4 matches without conceding a green ...

Ground Hurling

Very briefly (and I could go on all day on this) a ground stroke is ONLY effective if the receiver is expecting the ground stroke and moves into a position to receive it. I would describe Offaly's current style as that of "stand up and move it on" hurling rather than "ground hurling&q...

No questions were answered in Parnell Park on Saturday evening. Only more questions though, like why was Brian Mullins engaged in a warm-up drill taking shots at goal along with everyone else? That’s just plain daft. Same problems that surfaced in the Wexford game. Backs hurling well, but forwards s...

To me, yesterday was probably the first time in 25 years that Offaly’s touch and striking was eclipsed by that of Wexford. They got far more length and accuracy into their ground strokes. This represents a huge sea-change in where those two teams stand in relation to each other, if this was an 8th –...

Today’s Thursday. T-3 days to Offaly v Wexford, the match we’ve been looking forward to since the draw was made. Ironic, I think, that it should be slap bang in the middle of the leaving cert, especially given the vastly differing approaches of the two involved. Offaly have studied diligently throug...

They can't do this, can they?

I saw a suggestion in Wednesday's indo that the Leinster Council are considering deferring the SHC semi-final fixed on 11th June for a week to facilitate an Offaly - Wexford double header at headquarters. If so, when are they going to make this decision? Surely they can't defer the hurling? 11th Jun...

The more I look at the more I realise that there is no rule to say that James Coughlan becomes permanent when Kellaghan replaced Phelan. Kellaghan himself becomes Offaly's third permanent sub on his re-introduction, according to the rule (can't think of the rule number!!) As far as I can see, Offaly...

Walking down Dorset St. on the way to the obligatory “Casual Dining” after the initial few analytical jars in Kavanagh’s, it felt like the street was ours again. Readers of this site may or may not have been up and down to Croke Park every second weekend in the 1990’s, but for the first time in wha...
