Re: U21 football management 2016

Next year, only 2 players are overage so interesting times in Daingean parish. Yes, I think 2 of the starting 15 are over age for 2017, actually a large proportion of the current panel has 2 more years at U21. This was the concern at the start of the campaign, that this panel was much younger and i...

Re: Intermediate Final

I would like to add my congratulations to Cappincur on their victory. Delighted for them in the wake of the recent loss of Adam Mangan, although not a Cappincur lad, he's a Vincent's man, which as said above has boosted morale in the area. If they can keep focused they can give the Leinster a right ...

Re: Championship Odds

Their replay will stand to whoever wins. I would seem that it was the case. I've seen Clonbullogue's last 3 matches and they played their best football of the year in the final V Ballycommon. Ballycommon had one competitive match in ages as they got a walk-over in the last round of the group stage,...

Re: Brian Gavin

Training has to start with sideline officials from competing teams, who's abuse of referees is staggering at times! There needs to be something in place to police or deter this behaviour. Players pick up on what their mentors do and say and follow suit. It's gotten worse, its' almost an epidemic. I ...

Re: Championship Odds

I hope your not implying Ballycommon there? Clonbullogue and Kilclonfert are as every bit as good as Ballycommon. Their replay will stand to whoever wins. That's the truth, Ballycommon will have played only one competitive match in nearly two months by the time of the final, whoever comes through t...

Re: Championship Odds

I think most will agree with the above assessment. I haven't watched much of the seniors this year but I have caught a lot of the other grades mentioned. Senior B will probably be the tightest of all, very much any even standard in the top4/5. Intermediate will be Cappincur / Daingean / Bracknagh to...

Re: U21 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2015

Great performance from St. Vincents (formerly St. Colmans) especially as mentioned earlier, in the third quarter. Eoin Carrol kicked 3 huge points which was the real difference at the time as Vincents struggled to turn their dominance into scores. Putting up back-to-back Championship wins is a huge ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Management 2015

Any chance we could get Shane Lowry to have a word with Paul McGinley, seeing as he has little to be at now. :D

Re: football championship 2014

It was a late tackle alright but happens in all games. And as for thuggery? Ballycommon gave it as much as clonbullogue did. Late tackle implies intention to hit or harm does it not? No.22 gets away with late hit, gets yellow for off-the-ball hitting (picked up by umpire) on same player, and sent o...

Re: football championship 2014

Think people should stop been sheep on here and jumping to conclusions. The Clonbullogue (get the spelling correct) player got a blow to his nose. He was a bit dazed as would anyone who got a blow to his nose. Clonbullogue made a blood substitute but due to an error on their selectors part they nev...

Re: Clara v Durrow Junior B football S/F shambles

You can't compare Anderson's role to that of Cormac Reilly or and other referee by saying their decisions right or wrong stand. All referees make judgement calls during a match and ultimately impact on the final outcome. The match we talk about has no incident being called into question, ergo the ma...

Re: Clara v Durrow Junior B football S/F shambles

With the two point swing, it was most likely the ref just noted the score on the wrong side of the page. Offering a replay is big of Durrow, seeing as they actually lost the game.... I don't know how Durrow players could accept this "win" , knowing you lost a match yet you advance to a fi...

Re: U21 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Up to a few years ago it was St. Colmans, but some rule change at county level made it able to be run under the entity of St. Vincent's. It used to have to be run by one of the senior clubs, normally Daingean. The colours are Saffron/White as worn by St. Vincents but I'm sure they've worn blue (ball...

Re: U21 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

St. Vincents had a great win over Tullamore last Friday. As said previously, there's been good work put in by most of this squad and there is a real sense of 'team'. Don't know what Edenderry are like but they will have to bring an A game to challenge the Daingean Parish team. History beckons for th...

Re: Offaly Minor Football 2014

Offaly beat Longford on Saturday, which is another in a recent line of success. Momentum and positivity is beginning to seep in at these underage levels which could transfer to an improvement in senior status over the coming years. The structures are better and good people are in charge, which is a ...
