Re: Club football championship
Some great posts there guys with a tip of the hat to Magpie in particular. A very exciting game in store with the winner not only claiming bragging rights for 2012 but for the last 4 years. I’m already in a ball of nerves with almost 24 hours to go. Just a few points from my Rhode perspective or my ...

Re: Intermediate Football Championship
A very tight Championship with a lot of teams evenly matched. Hard to know how Shamrocks will react to relegation last year and Brigids to defeat by Rhode 2nds in the final. However if both teams react positively Id place them both as front runners. Cant see Rhode being near as strong this year with...

Re: U21 Championship
In fairness while Edenderry might have had guys with senior experience, these games are often decided as much by the last five names on the teamsheet as the first five, and Rhode/Croghan/Clonmore have great depth at this level. Edenderry wouldn't to the same extent, they'd have a few very solid min...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Club Championship 2011
Apparently the Rhode v Walsh Island match was put back a week as neither are involved in hurling championships. That's the official line anyway................ Doesn't really make much sense. The master fixture list had this weekend down for senior football championship. Football it should be. It i...

Re: mcpaddens for clonmore ?
I’ll try and explain the facts of the case re McPaddens. The actual facts and not what I heard from a guy close to someone who knows. The McPadden family are originally from Leitrim. They bought a farm on the Offaly/Meath border. Some of their farm is in Rhode parish some in Ballinabrckey. The house...

Re: mcpaddens for clonmore ?
Just to clarify. Im not disputing the facts of the transfer case. My only issue is how it came down to all the other clubs in offaly deciding the outcome. From what i can gather, and if anyone on this board was at the meeting maybe they could fill in the gaps, but the transfer was passed by the comm...

Re: mcpaddens for clonmore ?
its great to see that we are getting some support here for fighting for these lads,i really taught we were going to get slated for 'stoping' them from playing football for a year.the fact of the matter is we let these lads know last year that they were in our catchment area an not rhodes as they we...

Re: Clara v Rathvilly
I could be completely wrong about this but........ As far as I am aware, there was a system of home clubs hosting Provincial club Championship games on their own grounds from the outset. However there was a Jaysus row between 2 clubs, supporters included, sometime round the Eighties. Don't know whic...

Re: Senior Football Championship 2009 - Opening matches
Were you at the game Naasman? I thought it was a good game. End to end in the second half. Niall macs penalty put Rhode 5 up. Shamrocks then brought on Molloy and tom Coughlan, replacing both midfielders I think. They surged down the field to hit 1 3 without reply. Molloy with the goal, coughlan a p...

Re: ALAN MCNAMEE.
(1) Ferbane match - I was taking stats for that game so I know exactly how much he was dominated - he was eaten alive. Ferbane won 7 clean catches vs 1 for Rhode (not Alan) while Ferbane also won the breaking ball battle 16-8. Rhode won that game by six points because Niall McNamee was at his best ...

Re: ALAN MCNAMEE.
Last year I saw him get absolutely cleaned in two championship games for Offaly, as well as watching him get similarly dominated against Ferbane, against Shannonbridge, against Gracefield, against Portlaoise and against Kilmacud in the championship. In the county final he was anonymous but Tullamor...

Re: The Leagues
Whoa there archangel, If you just take the time to look at the results from div 3 you'll find that the teams in 3A (mostly fairly strong Intermediate teams) played their games against the teams in Div 3B (mostly Junior with a couple of Senior clubs second teams). So therefore it would be far easier ...

Man from Ferbane, The answer is no they don't. Don't know where red exile is getting his/her information. Again I am only speaking from Rhode GAA point of view. I don't know anything about Rhode Ladies prices.
