Re: SFC Qualifier Draw - Offaly vs Tyrone
However we took the field in two championship games this year with little or no prospect of victory in either. Yet the approach from the players on the grass was far different against Kildare. On an individual level, players have to ask why that was. I'd say the answer is fairly straightforward and...

Re: LSFC v Kildare
Good outcome to the year so far, but its not over yet. I could never understand why in previous years training was stopped in between losing in leinster and the first qualifier. I hope that they are back training just as hard this week as they have been up to now, to prepare for the qualifiers. The ...

Re: LSFC v Kildare
The way football has changed makes it much more difficult for the underdog to "put it up" to better teams. And be honest, Kildare are a significantly better team than Offaly. Well drilled teams just dont give away the opportunities that you might have got 20 or 30 years ago. An improvement...

Re: offaly minor footballers
In both football and hurling we can't keep sending our teams out conceding an average of 10kg a man in muscle mass. Really? Thats astonishing....and across the board as well. men against boys really. If thats what really matters in minor football then I'd encourage any kid of mine to pass on it. Th...

Re: McTague - Offaly should amalgamate with Laois
I dont buy this notion that Offaly can never scale the heights again. It has far mor to do with the quality of player available at any given time than anything else. The bigger counties are more likely to have top quality players available more often. Counties like Offaly may only hit on sufficient ...

Re: Allianz FL Division 4 2013
I have to be honest and say I only went along to this beacause it was on my doorstep. Last time I went to see Offaly footballers was in Tullamore again Wexford in the championship two years ago. I swore I'd never go again, but..... there I was. All the changes from the selected team were disappointi...

Re: Heffo R.I.P.
Great GAA man. He was the reason Offaly fupped up in 83 also. Obviously he was in charge of Dublin for one thing but also because Eugene McGee was so obsessed with proving himself the better manager. Shewed his ruthless side by wiping out the Dublin half back line from th 74 winning team after they ...

Re: Interesting Offaly Jersey Design
That looks more like a Meath alternative jersey to me with a bit of white stuck on the front. There no need to fugg about with perfection. Whatever piping or marking they need to do to modernise the jersey, the basic 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 Green, White and Gold should always be a constant. Not a 5/8, 2/8 1/8...

Re: 1981 All Ireland Final - Kerry v Offaly
I dont know. I played my first senior club game in 1980. I was lucky enough to play alongside lads with all ireland medals and at every level from u-12 through school up to senior hoofing the ball up in the air was a no no. It was drilled into you, burst past your man, get your head up and find a ma...

Re: Katie Taylor
However I have to say that I'm actually taken aback by how invested I was in this. Of course you always like to see your own doing well, whether it be Irish golfers, the Irish soccer team, rugby team or whatever, but I found myself in bits watching her fights and feeling the kind of tension that wo...

Re: McDonnell in running for Offaly football job
Know nothing about Emmett McDonnell but obviously he has a winning mentality. This is the single most important thing we should be looking for in any manager, plus their ability to communicate that mentality to the players. How many medals he has won in the past or at what level he has managerial ex...

What success was that, must have missed it. I wouldnt class reaching a Leinster Final a success. What has any Offaly conty team won in the last ten years. ?

Re: Gerry Cooney steps down as Offaly Manager
I cant remember if its the definition of insanity or stupidity............but doing the same thing time after time and expecting different results seems to be a loop the Offaly County Board are stuck in. They are not helped by a bunch of players, who appear to the outsider looking in, to wnat always...

Not doubting any of the Darby clans football ability of heart, but are there any examples of small (relatively) players making a success of CHB at intercounty level ?

Re: McManus ends Offaly career
Listened to him on Newstalk last night, he was definitely critical of the CB but in no way was he lashing out. He seemed more sad than angry. Brilliant Brilliant servant to Offaly football and will be sorely missed. Maybe he could be persuaded to help out a new man in his first year in the job but h...
