Lets hope his man management skills are better than last year, we don't want some of our top players walking out four days before a big game, as well as one of our most popular and longest serving players having to tell him a few home truths in a crowded dressing room after the Carlow match.

Lets hope he has the cop on to learn from his mistakes from the year gone by, because the pressure will be on him from the start of the league onwards and if we were to be relegated the knives will be sharpening big time before the championship even begins.

Some cracking games in both codes to look forward to, especially for the hurlers. I was at every Div 2 game this year and by jaysus was it a painful couple of months, which in my opinion resulted in the main reason why we got slaughtered on June 12 last. John McIntyre will be thrilled with the games...

Good point Barracuda, he did seem to be carrying a leg last Sunday and struggled to get into the game. I would wonder is he going to be one of those players that is never going to fulfill his potential he showed a couple of years ago, especially on the hurling front.

Apart from saluting the crowd when he scored and causing a mini riot in the second half by taking forever to take a free, he hit the ground way too easily when a Rhode player got within a yard of him, or even looked crooked at him. At least if Mr Bellew or Mr McMenamin, to name just two, were to mak...

Tullamore v Shamrocks U21 semi.

As we eagerly trotted along to Durrow,to watch an intriguing local derby with Tullamore and Shamrocks,on a very cold winters afternoon, we were quite taken aback at the gate to be told that there were no programmes available, and then to get a second shock to find out there was'nt even a scoreboard ...

Put it this way, if he carried on against Francy Bellew or Ryan McMenamin like the spoilt little superstar as he did last week, he would end up on top of the stand.

''True Red'' Any truth in the rumour that John Hirst has rejoined the panel for 2006? I personally think he would be a fine No 4, I had great time for him when he was on the team before. I think he would slot in there nicely with Scott Brady moving to centre back.

My first reaction when I heard about Sid staying with the panel for next year was ''Oh no, talk about flogging a dead horse'', but on reflection the ''Biff'' made a very valid point about Sid possibly doing a Brian Corcoran and lining out at full forward. Its obvious that now at 34 years of age Bria...

I must say im with True Red on this one. Over the two games Crokes were a little bit better than Rhode, and in all fairness if Kilmacud, and in particular [the irratating little shitbag Vaughan] had converted half of the wides they kicked in the second half especially, then yes, Rhode's comeback woul...

What are Lone Shark's thoughts on the Leinster Council's verdict that Rhode have to play on Sunday instead of Saturday? I personally think that it's a case of the small county put in their place yet again by the big bosses. You have to be a big county, as it has been proved over the years to get you...

As an ex Gracefield man, in the company of two friends from Ferbane and Tullamore, we shouted ourselves hoarse for Rhode yesterday. What a magnificent second half performance that had us on a high leaving O'Moore Park. Three points of praise to make. 1. Well done Stephen Darby for not panicking at h...

In reply to ''The man from Ferbane'' Would it not be more beneficial for the whole panel to be together from the word go instead of a bunch of players from the one club joining the rest of the squad two or three months down the line with a very tough winter programme over half way completed. The wor...

Birr's loss/ McIntyre's Gain

Although the initial reaction, as we watched the game from the hill in Tullamore on Sunday was of disappointment, on cold reflection later in the evening, , for the County,s sake, and certainly for John McIntyre its probably a blessing that Birr bowed out of the provincial championship on Sunday at ...

Very informative LS as usual. I personally felt Fergal Dunne was badly missed yesterday at midfield, if for nothing else at least for his fielding ability alone mixed with his physical strenght. Fergal is very much a holding midfield player and he compliments Alan McNamee perfectly in so far as the ...
