Re: County Under 21 football championship

Was it this crop of KK minor players that played against Rhode in the minor final 3 years ago or so? I remember them having a very strong side back then.

Re: Offaly v Longford

A very accurate report from bord na Mona man. Yes the workrate was a bit better and the lads got stuck in alot more. Lets call it as it is, this squad have a huge amount of work to do, but with with good management like what they had provisionally at the weekend and a good attitude from the players ...

Re: Job Application: Managerial position available

Best of luck with it Bord na Mona man. You certainly appear to have a better understanding of Offaly football compared to our county board. The players are a disgrace anyway. We've all heard the rumours about the majority of them. Go out any weekend during season and i guarantee you you'll meet plen...

Re: DISMANTLE OFFALY FOOTBALL TEAM

Alot of lads on that panel are nowhere near county standard. Richie and his selectors dont seem to have a clue. The management team should be Phil Reilly, Tom Coffey and Finbarr Cullen. That would be my management line up. These are well respected former players who know the game very well, and also...

Re: Roscomon V Offaly

Here is the team, from offaly express alerts: Mulhall- Deserves a decent run. kelly should be no1 when he returns from injury. Evans- Not a corner back, maybe centre back as he can control the play pretty well, doesnt waste possession. McManus- Obviously Richie sticking to the experiment. It doesnt ...

Re: First indication of football panel for 2009

I wouldnt mind seeing the following team tried out for a few games and see how they develop. 1)Padraig Kelly 2) Joe Quinn 3) Sean Casey 4) Ger Rafferty 5) Paul McConway 6) Conor Evans 7) Karl Slattery 8) Smith 9) Alan McNamee 10) Neville Coughlan 11) Aidan Keenaghan 12) Ciaran McManus 13) PJ Ward 14...

Re: Offaly 0-13 Carlow 2-11

Bracknaghboy made a very good point. It is very important for a team to try and build momentum, and the attitude of the squad in the Tommy Lyons era was exactly that, go out and win. i left yesterdays game totally pissed off at what was total and utter garbage. Management dont seem to have any real ...

Re: Offaly vs Dublin

Yes the Man from Ferbane i take your comments. I understand the angle your taking alrite. And yes you are correct, a good balance of both is what is needed. What i was trying to get across is that there is too much talk about gym work on this thread and its not the main reason for their poor perform...

Re: Offaly vs Dublin

I wouldnt worry so much about gym work. Its being sport specific with this training that is important. That Dublin team to me looked like a bunch of players that had been doing alot of hard running in heavy conditions. That was the main difference. The power comes from the legs and in heavy conditio...

Re: Offaly vs Dublin

It was a dreadful display. Offaly didnt look anyway hungry or as if there is any pride in them. At this time of year it is probably unfair to criticise too much as very little collective training has been done. Yes management tried out a few things and new players and to be honest nothing looked pos...

Re: Richie Connor's first team selection

Yes totally agree with LS in that the county lacks quality corner backs. For me the best two at present in the county consistently have been Egan of Tullamore and Kilmurray of Rhode. Question marks over Kilmurray on the county stage as i think he struggles to last the full game and i think thats why...

Re: Richie Connor's first team selection

Mulhall; - Ive heard hes a dcent keeper. A good back up for Kelly Evans, - Had a great year with Plunketts in Dublin, uses the ball very well, can becaught out badly by times but good see him back McManus, - Id love to see this work but time will tell. Need his energy further out the field though. B...

Re: Player of the year awards

Rigney had a good year but Hanniffy was the correct choice. He excelled in all games picking off good scores. He caused Kinnitty huge headaches in the final. Rigney also had a torrid time against Colin Kenny for Belmont in the championship. Id say thats why the choice was made. On another note, Its ...

Re: Des Dolan Sr to manage shamrocks in 2009

Pat Flanagan is gone to Clara i heard again. Hes known to look for a good fee and im hearing a large additional amount is part of the package if he can win a championship. Big money there. Id fancy them under Flanagan. Ye are right though, you will hear different things from everybody so its hard to...

Re: Rhode V Kilmacud

Who said anything about square balls. I was referring to infringements on the goalkeeper. Shur if thats the case why bother have umpires at all. "The Umpire has the power to bring to the attention of the Referee, during a break in play, any instances of foul play or incursions onto the field of...
