Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024

McDermott didn't have the best of years last year in the football but he would be Durrow's star forward with Michael Mooney and Alan Geoghegan gone to Oz/Canada ? and Kelly will know what he will get from him having had him at u-20. Poland has the talent albeit a bit raw, great power and speed so b...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

My guess is as good as yours but I would imagine Seir Kieran staying up. The beaten second tier finalists should not be getting promoted in these circumstances in my opinion. That being said, Seir Kieran very lucky to get a stay of execution. I think for the sake of fairness to all clubs involved, t...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024

Thanks! Have O Brien , Mcdermott and Poland been involved at senior before, would they be much of an addition or similar enough to whats been involved before? I have a feeling McDermott may have been on league panels before, but could be mixing that up with u20 either. He’s always exciting to watch...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

Interesting to hear the criticism of KK management and the inability to adapt. I have thought the same previously but was wondering if I was overthinking it. As pointed out above, KK will be hot favourites in Offaly every year with this golden generation coming through and coupled with the lack of s...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024

And a few more decent young footballers from around the county set to follow him out there so I’m told. The exodus of young people is frightening, you’d worry for the smaller clubs, never mind the county.

Re: Club football and hurling managers 2033

One and done seems to be a more regular occurrence these days. Hard to really put a finger on why, maybe clubs who perceive themselves as contenders are just more impatient these days and want instant gratification. Personally I’d be an advocate for continuity where possible. Seems rare for outside ...

Re: Club football championship 2023

The culprit is/was an Offaly panelist too as far I’m aware. Emotions were obviously high but he has to do better as an ambassador for our county and as someone who young footballers will look up to, especially in Tullamore. Lengthy ban needed to ensure that shite stops. No games without referees and...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

Don’t get me started on Astroturf in the goals  Agree with the point that keeping it to one game is probably sensible given the recent weather. Looking forward to a pulsating game and a great atmosphere. I’ve been back and forth all day with a winner and alas, nothing. I’m parking my behind on ...

Re: Junior A Hurling Championship 2023

An interesting nugget re: the Errity brothers, can’t imagine it’s been done before but who knows?? Gracefield never really got going today but a great year for them all the same, hopefully they can build on the momentum next year and get back competing at junior level. Credit to Birr for always keep...

Re: Junior A Hurling Championship 2023

Some good hurlers on that Brosna Gaels team. Panda Allen named at midfield, think he was absent for a few years. Nice hurler and will have a great engine at that level. They’ll fancy themselves to go straight back up now.

Re: Offaly Senior B Hurling Championship 2023

Agree with that. Would require good organization at the same time to avoid having teams waiting 4 weeks for a potential relegation game. I note that KK are the 6th different winner of the Senior B championship since it came back around 2017. Indicates that it’s a healthy and competitive championship...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

Tend to agree with FairPlay for the most part. Rynaghs will give KK a serious run for their money but it’s hard to look past the green and yellow. Ballinamere will have to be flawless to beat Shinrone who I think will come alive tomorrow with their backs to the wall. Shinrone to edge it by a narrow ...

Re: Junior A Hurling Championship 2023

The tinfoil hat men in here probably think it’s Tommy Byrne looking after his lot so
Gracefield hurled well, great to see them get to a final and driving it on.

Re: Junior A Hurling Championship 2023

Are KK still in the junior B? If so, there’s a fair chance chance of K/K v Ballinamere in the finals of Senior, Junior A and Junior B. That would be quite something. Surely a first in Offaly and maybe even across the country? POTH might have some insight on the Offaly side of things so I’ll defer to...
