Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

Was down home for club training last night and got a full report on the game mind you all 2nd hand info so make what you want of it. By all accounts the team was a mish mash of some of this years minor panel, some 17s and some 16s. A lot of lads exam tied so cant be part of this set up, injuries did...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

I was impressed with the Offaly U17s who enjoyed a big win over Meath earlier this evening. Now, Meath offered little resistance, and everything is predicated on this, but still. Offaly made countless fine fetches, they made several intelligent passing moves, they played handpasses, they supported ...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

My mate was in Thurles today with his lad where our 16s tried to take on Tipp. He told me Offaly lacked intensity lacked pace and were almost always second to the breaking ball. Aparently a lot of players looked tired and ran out of steam very quickly. We played with a full deck except for Young Kie...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

Left work early this evening and travelled across the city myself to see our 17s take on Dublin, yes they went toe to toe for 45mins but would not agree that the ran out of steam. The problems arose when the side line started to ring the changes and the team lost all its shape and composure. Why mig...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

Guys lets put the record straight. The U15s and U16s from 2016 bought into strength and conditioning in a very big away and from speaking with 2 of the sacked mentors one from each squad the players continued to work on this at home - the breakdown came after their respective tournaments last autumn...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

The hurling Pathway document is basically a book of drills for different age groups, it gives a good foundation of what a kid should be able to do at each age level in a step by step approach if you are starting from scratch with a player or family that have no back round in GAA or hurling, however ...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

just to get this straight (because I'm not very clued in, and a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. And please exceuse the questions. Is it the case that S&C is considered optional, at the discretion of individual team managements? And is it the case that there is a warmup programme recommen...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

Let it be known there was a big effort put in by elements within coaching and games from late last year and early in this year to remove this minor management team and the management team were well aware of it which in itself had to undermine their standing with the minor squad. The world and its mo...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

Was at the hurling Pathway launch tonight as a spectator not a club invitee and to listen to the irony when Martin Fogarty the National Director of hurling spoke just shows how thick stupid and down right disgraceful this whole situation is. All members of management in Offaly County Board are a jok...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

And so its all over the fools that are Offaly's County Board messed up yet again last night and could not see reason with a KK motion to re in state last years management with those in situ this year, this would have meant you would have had ample bodies in place to work with and coach our young sta...
