Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]
Saw the 17s got a trimming last night by Tipp anyone out there at the game or have an update on how lads played or what was the team. I wasn't at the game but this is not the first trimming the under 17's have got recently, this was a very competitive team last year at under 16 but they seem to hav...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]
Brian Gavin gave a very frank and honest interview to Will O Callaghan on Radio 3 today ( its up as a podcast in case anybody wants to listen to it)about the whole sorry affair. One big factor missing from all development squads up to minor level is continuity with managements. I am not necessarily ...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]
It beggers belief the manner in which the county board has handled the whole affair, if what Hurlingtothebackbone says is true about a game in Kilkenny last weekend we are in Disaster land. Martin Cashen coming in as the new Coaching Officer had a brilliant opportunity to put his stamp on the positi...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]
Looks like CB got better of 2 clubs with everything gone so quite and still no mention of who is managing the squads. Heard in Ballinamere at the weekend that ther might be no U17 squad this year due to lack of numbers anyone know anything bout that. Seems sort of crazy big 16 squad last yr now not...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]
Guys the meeting between the county board, KK and Shinrone took place under the stand after the Wexford hurling game last Sunday as I seen the delegates with Tommy Byrne and Martin Cashen. It is strange though that a week later there has been no speak of what happened at this meeting or if any resol...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]
I heard it yesterday and from what I make of it they plan on meeting with Shinrone and K/K delegates this week as they were the ones that spoke up at the last county board meeting. What is that going to achieve?, this is a bigger and wider issue than K/K and Shinrone, this need to be discussed with ...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]
Hi lads, I'm a long time followers of this forum only decided to join today. I honestly don't think we should be ending development squads at u17. 8 counties have intermediate teams to toughen up their young lads. Personally I believe we are missing a great opportunity to get lads some top hurling ...

Re: National Hurling League 2017
Timber, read the development squad thread and you will see how the kids are being looked after and what is happening to quality coaches in Offaly. Had a quick read of your comments on that thread alright Cmon Offaly. By all accounts seems like the board have a lot of question to answer. seems like ...

Re: 2017 Walsh Cup
POTH, this is far too serious to let lie and its great to see that it made the floor at the county board meeting last week, now that it is out in the public domain hopefully the clubs will get behind Ger Maher ,Shinrone GAA Club and the KK delegate who I believe also raise a couple of questions at t...

Re: 2017 Walsh Cup
PoTH, Development squads are a disgrace at the moment as I have said on a previous post, last year was the most successful at underage since 1989. U15, U16 and U17 squads all had success and all won silverware to show for the year but yet only one management team reappointed. One management team con...

Re: Football plan, Whats the story?
Private Joker, Offaly hurling development squads are a shambles this year. A guy from Dublin was brought in as the great white hope to develop a hurling plan and all he has done is make a balls of it. I heard this week last years under 15 and 16 development squads managements have all been got rid o...

2017 Walsh Cup
Guys, we speak about development squads here and how important they are, currently none of the Offaly Development squads have returned training. At this stage last year the under 15 and 16 hurling squads had 3 months of S&C work done. There have been no managements appointed either, the under 15...
