Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

I think Kinnitty will acquit themselves pretty well at Senior A in 2020 if they go up. I feel Lusmagh would be the best equipped to go up with them but might struggle a bit. There seems to be a huge gap between top 9 (8 Senior A teams plus Kinnitty) and the rest but Lusmagh might make a good fist of...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

So the mathematic certainties even before the weekend are that: 1.Kilcormac and Banagher will top their groups and avoid each other in semi finals. 2. Clareen are eliminated. 3. The winners of Birr vs Coolderry qualifies to play Banagher in semi - final. Losers are out. (A draw would see Birr progr...

Re: Senior A Football Champioship

Semi Final line up:

Rhode vs Edenderry (nice local derby there)

Ferbane vs Tullamore

Hard to see past a Rhode vs Ferbane final in all honesty.

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

So far the Senior championship, while tight and competitive, is progressing along expected lines. Kilcormac/Killoughey had to dig deep the grind out the win against Coolderry but really K/K with in around the 20 wide mark shouldn’t have had to been in a position where they could have been caught. Th...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

As a friend said to me yesterday there is nothing left to do in this country now only work. It struck a chord because the current climate seems to be that if you contract C19 in work it was unfortunate but if you get it outside of work you are somewhat shamed, blamed and accused of not following pub...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

Couldn't possibly do that with the amount of dual clubs.

I think the solution they have come up with is a suitable one.

Re: Byrne v Duignan

I just want to say well done to our current county board on their response to the many challenges Coronavirus has placed in front of them. All issues were dealt with promptly, decisively and in particular (and this is stark contrast to the last number of years) transparently. The fixtures situation ...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

County Board have announced that if Covid restrictions are not lifted for Offaly until midnight Sunday August 23rd there will be a round of football played on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th with a round of hurling on weekend 28th-30th August. This will result in Offaly losing 2 weekends of matches. Wi...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

Interesting comments from Michael Duignan today. He mentioned that if the current lockdown is to be lifted on midnight Sunday August 23rd as is currently outlined the Offaly County Board will look for special dispensation to play games on Saturday August 22nd and Sunday 23rd which would mean that on...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

So the lockdown for Offaly is provisionally set to end at midnight on Sunday August 23rd which will mean 3 weekends of lost GAA action. This means if fixtures are to continue to alternate between football and hurling weekends all county finals will be pushed back 3 weeks. So this would leave the SFC...

Intermediate/Junior A/Junior B Hurling 2020

Having seen the post about Edenderry entering the Junior B championship gave me the thought to set up a thread about these 3 championships. Intermediate - Having made it to last year's final Seir Kieran will have been disappointed to have lost their first round game vs Coolderry. In the other game B...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

The competitive nature of the Senior A championship can be seen by the fact that across the four games played the average winning margin was 1.75 points. However in my opinion, in a championship as tight as that, previous experience of winning big games can edge teams over the line so on that premis...
