Re: Severe lack of Offaly O’Neills Gear on website

1. Does anyone else find the O'Neills gear big fitting? A medium (non tight fit) jersey is like a parachute. Same with some of their leisurewear. 2. Here's some O'Neills gear available on the Elverys site that's not available on the O'Neills site. https://www.elverys.ie/elverys/en/Elverys/GAA/Leinst...

Re: The offaly way.

I thought you were referring to the 29km walkway across the Slieve Blooms for a moment.

Re: Amalgamations

I've seen Crinkill hurl over the last couple of years and they have been quite poor. As were Carrig and Riverstown this year. However with an amalgamation they could be decent enough in a few years as they have had reasonable underage success over the last number of years. Should hold their own Seni...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

What club in offaly, since 2015 onwards could be described as a progressive club? Is there any club that could be called that? Only one or two would come to mind for me. I'm not talking about success on the field and trophies been won. But a structured approach to developing gaelic games, developin...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

It really is a desperately sad time for Offaly hurling and trying to piece through the rubble of 2020 will be difficult but as is the merits of internet forums I'd like to add my two cents in more than likely an unstructured meandering post. First of all Offaly's gameplan today was and is hugely con...

Re: 1984 Centenary All Ireland on Gold last night

what an amazing link with Bono etc.. not really into U2 but still thats nice to know, although, I will probably forget it, God be with the day when I would bank that and have it to throw out over a pint and having a chat...Offaly got as good a start as they would have wanted, Cork while tenacious w...

Re: Offaly V Kildare 2nd round of LSFC

Offaly lose by 4. Very honest performance. Unfortunately we were in serious bother in midfield at kick-out time. Also felt the referee was very hard on us in second half. Colm Doyle should have got a free in when taken out of with a frontal challenge by the Kildare keeper and I think it was Doyle ag...

Re: Offaly V Kildare 2nd round of LSFC

Kildare 0-10 Offaly 0-09 at HT Really decent showing from Offaly. But it does look like that Kildare can get their scores far easier. Example 1 - Kildare's first score came 15 seconds after throw in. Example 2 - Kildare's last point of half took 30 seconds from kickout to ball going over the bar. Ha...

Does anyone have the Offaly team for Sunday? I don't do tweets, and I am not on Facebook, so I am against the thread, but I don't care. Wish the GAA would think of us folk, when they announce teams.
Edgy!!

Re: Offaly V Kildare 2nd round of LSFC

Interesting to note that Kildare’s go to man Daniel Flynn of Johnstownbridge has great Offaly breeding.

His mother is from Kinnitty and his grandfather won a senior county championship in 1967. Also, his uncle Eoin was full forward on the last Offaly team to win a Leinster U21 championship in 2000.

https://derrygaa.ie/christy-ring-derry-v-offaly/ On the matter of team selections and clubs etc, it’s interesting to note Kevin Lynch’s have 7 starters for Derry while Slaughtneil only have 4. And a small piece here on Offaly and Derry’s previous championship meeting in 2000 https://the42.ie/5257922

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

Maybe, but I feel it shows that this management haven’t managed to get the best available players in the county to commit.

And then when you do get the best players for a certain position i.e Goalkeeper, and leave him on the bench for the biggest game of the year it’s hard to have faith.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

For the 2020 club championships 40% of the starting team either didn’t win a game or were hurling Senior B championship. That stretches to 54% if you take the 26 into consideration.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

And in even more recent times I would classify Stephen Egan, Niall Wynne and Paddy Rigney as excellent defenders.
