Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

I presume it's because a clubs senior team (first team) has to play on the weekend before its intermediate junior etc so players hurl at appropriate grade.

Just been informed that Daniel Kelly AKA the cruncher is flying home from Australia to lead Tullamore Juniors to Championship glory. any truth to this ? if so, this is massive lift for club and county.

Re: Club Championship Draws

On the first weekend of the hurling Birr are hurling Kilcormac/Killoughey in Banagher on the Friday at 7.30 according to Birr's social media.

Also I think I heard that Coolderry are hurling Clareen in Birr on the Saturday.

Re: Club Championship Draws

Senior A Group 1 - Birr, Kilcormac/Killoughey, Coolderry, Seir Kieran Group 2 - St Rynaghs, Belmont, Shinrone, Ballinamere I actually can't wait for this year's championship. Every game will have something riding on it not like the farcical competition of the last couple of years. Senior B Group 1 -...

Re: Club Championship Draws

There is a county board meeting tonight to finalise and ratify the championship structures for 2020. Here's a condensed version: Football- From Senior to Junior A all competitions have 8 teams divided into 2 groups of 4. You play everyone in your own group. Top 2 teams in each group go to semi-final...

Re: Irish Independent: The Day of the Short Whistle

To the best of my recollection he gave Jamesie O'Connor a really soft free to tie it up. I think it was Kevin Kinehan he penalised for God only knows what. That often gets left out of the narrative of the trilogy.

Re: Covid-19 & Championship-20

The reality of the situation is, following yesterday's announcement by the government, is that September 1st is the earliest possible date that the All Ireland Championship can start. I firmly believe that the GAA won't go ahead with a championship behind closed doors so a decision will have to be m...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

Just for the year that's in it (btw I'm not fully advocating this, I'm just spitballing!) why don't the County Board place all 16 teams from Senior A and B in a hat and have a straight knockout championship with a back door thus guaranteeing every team 2 high intensity championship fixtures (exact s...

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

So now you're rewarding Lusmagh, Clodaigh Gaels and Carrig and Riverstown for hurling in a grade BELOW Kinnitty in 2019.

Sorry, but I find this absurd.

Re: Senior A and B Hurling Championships 2020

Why? As a reward for doing well in 2019. So do Kinnitty get seeded in Senior B and Shamrocks in Intermediate as a "reward" for getting relegated? Seir Kieran won 9 championship games out of 9 in 2019. They won't get a seeding by your reckoning, Seeding in my opinion is a load of boll*x and is used ...
