Underage Hurling and Football 2025
A couple of question upon looking at a few underage results:
Why are St Rynaghs hurling in Division 2 U16 league when they’ve won their 3 league games by on average 24 points?
Why are Rhode playing in Division 2 U14 football league when they’ve won their games by on average 22.5 points?
I would ...

Re: Offaly U20 Hurlers 2025
From being in Parnell Park for Offaly v Dublin and having watched Dublin vs Wexford on TV I have no doubt that Roundup was sprayed on the pitch.
With the coverage of spray the pitch got, in 6 days time it absolutely won’t be playable.

Turnstiles will be open at the Park Avenue end as well as the Arden Road end, which is positive. Indicates there could be >8k expected.
Looking forward to tomorrow, any indication on ticket sales ?
Turnstiles at the Park Avenue end weren’t open.
Attendance of over 10,000 which is the ...

Ruairi Kelly the latest to succumb to a hamstring injury according to the rumour mill.
If so, questions need to asked at this stage about training loads for these players.

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
Considering one wouldn’t exactly view Galway as hurling aristocrats (1 All Ireland in 36 years) Offaly have a poor enough championship record against them.
Played 13
Offaly wins 4
Galway win 8
Draw 1
Last Offaly win: 1994
Last Galway win: 2018
Biggest Offaly win:
14 points. 1984 All Ireland ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
Looking ahead to Saturday, was it such a big underperformance from Galway at the weekend? I think Kilkenny are well ahead of them and may prove to be well ahead of the rest of Leinster too.
Galway will be highly motivated to bounce back this Saturday, but they are short on quality.
Offaly need ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
Outfield players unable to win puckouts and breaking ball isn’t always the keepers fault.
Troy made some fantastic saves.
I do see you’re point regarding Liam Hoare though. Not in full agreement but worth a discussion all the same.

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
A positive performance but I feel a key reason for our defeat was our failure to retain possession from our own puckouts in the last 20 minutes. Dublin hit some poor wides but we were unable to take advantage as we were handing possession straight back to them from the resulting puckout ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
You could be nothing but proud of our hurlers leaving Parnell Park on Saturday. They absolutely gave it everything they had and really emptied the tank but just came up short. Overall I felt Dublin were very marginally the better team and just their more extended physical development and greater ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
Any idea of if many are going? Any buses or groups on the train?
Few pubs there in Killester a 10 min walk from the ground for a bit of grub and a few pints and to watch Kilkenny Galway at 3:45.
Very small Offaly crowd going from anecdotal evidence. Enquired about a bus from my club but ...

Re: Division 1 Club Hurling League 2025
Ballinamere would be severely weakened with all their intercounty players missing.
Disappointing result for Coolderry considering their excellent results and score totals to date.
Belmont seem to be struggling but are down al least David Nally, Paddy Clancy, Oisin Kelly James Nally, Jack Clancy ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
Colin Spain has a lot of positives to his game especially his delivery of ball to his forwards. However a major work-on for him is his ability to track a runner from midfield. This was evident in both his last 2 appearances in Croke Park. I’m sure this will come in time.

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
I think POTH would be the first to tell you calling the hurlers “The Dubs” is the incorrect term.
They were traditionally known as “The Metropolitans”.

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
Theres 2 aims really for Offaly in an overall context in this year’s championship.
1) Maintain their place in the Leinster Championship for 2026.
2) Manage to come Top 3 and qualify for All Ireland series.
We’ll know if number 2 is a possibility after Saturday evening. If we lose it’s really all ...
