Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2023

Look I think there should be little to no expectation on this management to do anything of any significance with this current crop of players....the U20 All Ireland success was a fantastic achievement for the lads involved, but it hasn't had any impact on either the senior team or even on the U20's ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2023

If I’m honest that’s a tough defeat to take, more so because of the margin of victory for Louth when for 70+ minutes we were more than a match for them. Fantastic spirit shown by the lads to produce a great fight back in the 2nd half when Louth looked to have gone up a few gears and got a nice lead ...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

Would Derek McGrath or Michael Ryan from Tipp be worth considering?

Re: Club Football Championship 2022

Didn’t Shannonbridge give Ferbane a walk over too against Ferbane? What’s going on in Offaly where clubs like Doon, Ryangh’s and Shannonbridge have 1 team and can’t field a 15 for the championship?
Is it time for some of these clubs to start to amalgamate?

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

I'm surprised that someone like Michael Donoghue's name hasn't been mentioned, as no county seems to have made a move for him since he quit Galway a few years back.

Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2022

I don't see O'Se dropping out as a massive issue as he's a complete novice to this and that doesn't really feel like what we need right now considering the young players that the manager is going to be working with and the complete lack of tactical awareness that we played with under Maughan. I'd lo...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2022

Keen for people's opinion here on likely candidates for the Offaly Managers job, do we go like the majority of counties and promote one of our past greats to become manager or do we go for another man outside the county?

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

I think if we make the JMD final then we have to go all out to win it, next year will be what it will be and players and opt in or out if they want but I don't see how losing to Antrim in a final and then playing JMD next year against Laois for arguments sake and losing to them and then finding out ...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

A question I would like to ask people who watch this Offaly team a hell of a lot more than I do is, would this group of Offaly hurlers be best served by winning the JMD this year and then risk getting absolutely mauled next year by the teams in Leinster, or have 2 or 3 years in the JMD playing compe...

Re: Kids dropped from development squad

Look I think that the management of the development squad should have the right to drop players and bring in players as they see fit. They are the people who have done all the coaching badges and have given a massive commitment to offaly underage teams down through the years and so have earned the r...

Re: Offaly u20 2021

Just wanted to say a massive congratulations to the Offaly players and Management. Was incredibly proud of the effort and the skill that the players showed out there yesterday, but even more importantly I loved the approach the players had to the game, even when the lead got down to 2 points with a ...

Re: Offaly GAA Progress

I think the work at underage has to be commended & while we haven’t won a lot of finals along the way, we have competed at all age groups now for the last few years. I think it’s probably too early to talk about progress with the senior teams as I think our footballers are very much in the same ...

Re: Poll: Will John Maughan and/or Niall McNamee stay on or leave/retire?

I guess my question on this is how much progress was really made this year? Were we not just steeped with a league draw that saw us drawn against teams that were easier than if we had to play a full league as I’m not sure we would have beaten Longford, Cavan or Fermanagh if we had to travel to play ...

Re: Offaly v Fermanagh

Thanks for clarifying BnM man. Reading the match report on RTE it sounded like we really let Fermanagh back into it and panicked in the closing stages.
Anyway I didn’t care how we won, just glad that we won and are moving in the right direction for the first time in a long time

Re: Offaly v Fermanagh

Delighted for all involved that we got promotion. Game management is still a huge issue as we had Fermanagh well beaten in the 2nd half and yet needed a scrappy goal late on to make it comfortable!! Everything I’ve heard and read sounds like we played great football in the first half and then retrea...
