Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
Totally agree with sam88885a. The best 4 hurling teams are left in it. KK beat Ballinamere missing 4 or 5 key players and never looked like they where goin to loose. I expected Kevin Martin to have Belmount is better form but they where the worst team of the weekend. First touch and passing was terr...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
I am going to win kk, belmount, birr and coolderry to advance.
Just have a feeling belmount are a bit under rated and at 3/1 are a good price to spring a shock.

Re: Intermediate Football Championship 2014
Shamrocks are favorites to win this out for me pending they don't receive any injuries in the hurling final next weekend. Some of their players like NIgel Dunne, Karl Mollen, Daire Minnock, Paddy Kelly are key to both teams. They will face a tough task against Durrow in the semi final and I expect t...

Re: football championship 2014
You could count on one hand the number of competitive games that were worth watching - Tullamore vs Edenderry, Tullamore vs Gracefield, Ferbane vs Ballycumber and maybe one or two others. I was at that Ferbane and Ballycumber game because I taught it would be a cracker and the only way it was compe...

Re: football championship 2014
Have to agree wit timber. Its all about being an athlete at inter county level now. The lads who are miles ahead of the rest like Brogan, O Donoghue, Flynn, Connolly are all athletes with ability. The club football in Offaly is dead. Great to see tullamore winning last year. Cant beat the underdog w...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
I totally agree. I think people are reading a little bit too much into Birr's victory over KK.
A great morale victory but at the end of the day it is only a league match.
Be interesting to see if they these two meet later in the championship!!

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
Ha, never noticed i was contradicting myself!! I do believe all players need a chance @ playing at the highest grade possible. Parish teams shouldn't get first preference though. This should also apply to hurling. Example that sticks ot to me would be If you had shamrocks and brosna gaels together t...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
HA.. Id say he would only love that to be honest!!
Dont need the draft although I also agree with every player getting a chance to play at the highest grade available. ie.. junior players playing in the senior championship.. if kerry do it why cant we?

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
I never understand why we have to copy other counties!! I agree its a bit Grid iron but to win now you have to do things different. If you copy any other county you are already behind!!

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
Even outside of that group, clubs like Belmont, Kinnitty and now Ballinamere seem to be well able to put up decent performances against better sides as well. Will ya come out of the tall grass. Where u @ Belmont versus KK over the weekend. KK where only in 2nd gear and won at their ease. I do think...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
It will be an interesting last 2 rounds now... Ballinamere will be shaking with the taught's of getting to a quarter final with Kinnitty, Tullamore, Brosna Gaels, Drumcullen & even Belmount and Birr now worried prospect of playin relegation.. In my opinion Senior hurling in offaly is not competi...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
allstar2010 My understanding was that the bottom two teams in each group where up for relegation. 5th in one group would play 6th in the other. Looks like this will be Drumcullen and Brosna Gaels form one group. The only upset would be Drumcullen to beat Belmount and both finish on 4 points. Then Dr...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
POH. The way it looks to me is that for clareen to finish second they would hoping for kk to beat both coolderry and f/b. It's all to play for still in the other group. Two very poor games in ocp today. Weather conditions where a major factor but the better teams won both games. Shinrone looked impr...
