In the JFC, the final score was either Ballycumber 0-13, Shamrocks 0-5 or Ballycumber 0-12, Shamrocks 0-4. Not 100% sure, I'm afraid.

The best thing about the 'weak group' in the Senior Hurling Championship was that it gave the intermediate champions a 'settling in' period. There's nothing worse than battling for five or six years to win an intermediate title and then dropping straight back down the year after. Even if three or fo...

Senior Hurling Results

Let's start the sliotar rolling. Birr versus Clara was played this evening (Saturday). I'm not sure why the fixture was changed but it may have been to suit Birr because they agreed to travel to Clara for the game. I'd say it was the first SHC tie in Pairc Bhride for a long time. Anyway, the result ...

Picture the scene. I'm carrying the water and the 'experienced' Doobane Man is corner back, and the Rossie are flying at 13 and 15, and it's a scorching hot afternoon, God Almighty, I'll be bunched running into him every few minutes. I definitely think 'experience' is more at home in the forward line.

Rhode won't be beaten. As I suggested in this website recently, their Offaly club form in '05 was not as exciting as '04, but the Leinster campaign has brought them on leaps and bounds. Losing the semi-final to Kilmacud Crokes will give them huge motivation to at least reach the final this season, d...

As far as I know there was a change to the structure of the leagues this year, whereby the second teams of senior clubs would only play each other, and the exclusively junior clubs would have a division, or divisions, to themselves. For example, Clara or Shamrocks' second teams won't come up against...

As I was at other games, I had to depend on updates over the phone from Ballycumber v Tullamore and I have to say it sounded like a fantastic comeback. Apparantly one or two tactical switches (by Ballycumber manager and Tullamore resident Mick Lowry) made all the difference. Depending on the outcome...

Far From Croghan Hill wrote: "I'm all for the rules of the assocation and them being upheld". Phew, that's a relief! I was wondering where he was coming from for a while. However, he continues to post unfounded (and potentially dangerous) alligations. Personally, I wouldn't interfere in an...

Sadly, Far From Croghan Hill has made a couple of silly posts on this subject. As I stated before, the County Chairman has no role in these situation - he is not a member of the Games Administration Committee of the County Board. Secondly, even if Ballycumber were aware of the situation before the g...

Regarding Treasurer's post, I'm not sure was specifically the Category A, B or C offences are. However, when a player receives a 'straight' red card, to the best of my knowledge he must miss a championship game. There has been some confusion over this rule, but I'd be suspicious - as opposed to cert...

Senior C'ships First Round

I read with interest the contribtions posted on the Erin Rovers v Doon game on Saturday evening. Looking at the two teams on paper, I'm not surprised that the Pullough men picked up the two points; I didn't know Doon were going to be without Damien Hunt, for example. It's hard to keep in touch with ...

When Rhode regained the Dowling Cup in 1998 after a long absence, it was impossible to foresee a situation developing whereby they would fail to triumph again until 2004. As everyone knows, it's not as if they went through a serious slump during that period - just that they slipped up in finals and ...
